Do you think that PS4 will feature backward compatibility with PS1, PS2 and PS3?

But I don't want PS1 and PS2, let them die finally.

But then I won't be able to play kingdom hearts II, final fantasy XIII, gta: san andreas and much much more. That sucks :(
They may keep PS1 BC indefinitely. Even PC is so powerful that including it as software emulation is an afterthought. Who knows... maybe PS4 will be so powerful that PS2 emulation will be an afterthought.
PS3 maybe, as it will still be BD.
But I don't want PS1 and PS2, let them die finally, and I don't care, its cheaper for the customer in the end.

NO!!!!
PS4 must be backwards compatible with PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. :x
If Sony does not support full backwards compatiblity with PS4, then i may have to start buying multi-platform games on other consoles and only buy the Sony consoles for the exclusives, because at the moment, the PS3 is my choice for gaming , and I currently buy all my games for the PS3, but as I said, if Sony does not support full backwards compatiblity for their future consoles, then I am not sure if Playstation will be my main choice for gaming as it is at the moment.
Sony has been a disappointment with backwards compatibility. They promised to support backwards compatibility and they broke their promise. At frist they were saying how backwards compatibility was important, then they start saying "you don't need it", well I do need backwards compatibility!!!
I only want one Sony console hooked up to my TV at a time, I think it's dumb that people have too hook up 2 Sony consoles to play last gen games and current gen games when the PS3 and PS4 should be able to play all Sony console games.
Plus, people have been asking Sony for PS2 backwards compatiblity on Sony's own offical blog share.

Well go to Xbox, Sony won't care and neither will M$, do they support the original xbox anymore? and can it go online? NO
Oh look, im crying now because I can't play the original Space Invaders, boo hoo, grow up and realise that backward compatibility will stagnate the development and increase costs, thats a bad thing.

Why won't you grow up?
Sony's competitors offer backwards compatiblity, one of them has limited backwards compatibility but they still offer it non the less. Sony promised that they would always support backwards compatibilty, but the fact is they broke that promise. I don't care what any fanboys says. By the time a company releases a new console, the parts of the least gen console get cheap. like now , the PS2 parts are cheap. Sony only has backwards compatibility with PS1 and not PS2, which makes no sense. Besides, I don't care for Xbox. They don't have many exclusives that I care about...
And you say backwards compatibility is expensive? Jack Tretton disagrees with you...

Me grow up? yeh sure...
Everytime you add backwards compatibility, the product never progresses, as there are always limitations of the old things, and when you add new things, it limits it more. I know this is the PS3 discussion board, but if you take a look at PC's its evident that backwards compatibility is not good.
It would be like Nintendo adding catridges to their Wii, just so it can play n64 games. Sony may decide to remove disks all-together, so the Console is the size of your mobile phone, very cheap to produce, and have no disk-drives, so it is only online.

Wow dude... seriously?
First you mention several times the "increased costs," and he gives you a quote straight from the horse's mouth that the cost of adding PS2 BC is basically inconsequential, and you still won't concede the point.
Then you hop to your next sinking ship by actually comparing backwards compatibility in Windows to backwards compatibility for Playstation games. Truly, that is an awful comparison. The criticism of Windows "limiting itself" for compatibility reasons is based on the idea of making the CURRENT OS run old software itself, not running an emulated, say, Windows 95 environment to make The Longest Journey work. Letting the more powerful PS3 emulate the less powerful PS2 or PS1 doesn't affect its ability to play next-gen games any more than the PC is affected because it can play PS1 and N64 games via emulator.
Playstation 4. if The PS4ends ups using VHD as it's medium for games. I don't think that Backwards Compatiblity will happen even with PS3 games. Versitile Holographic Discs can hold vastly more data then Blu-Ray. Since the lazer diode is incompatible with Blu-Ray lazers (blue lazer) and standard DVD and CD(red lazers)
However if the Playstation 4 just uses the next gen Blu-ray technology Then Backwards compatibility with PS3/PS2/PS1 can happen.
I wouldn't count on BC making it into Playstation 4 at all. Sony has given up on BC so I don't expect that it will be a part of PS4. Sony will focus on PS4 when it is released. I think that this generation has at least showed them that, If Sony hasn't learned then the PS4 will be their last console.
PS1 and PS2 all on the Playstation Network.
Hey, we're talking PS4 here, it's going to have a ridiculous harddrive - easily enough to hold a collection of PS2 classics.
and PS3 compatibilty through discs.. but if they pull a fast one on us like they did with PS2s compatibility with the PS3 I have no clue what they have in store.
BC with PS3 games is a must, and I assume it will happen. As for PS1 and PS2, I don't really care at this point. I have a PS2, and play my favorite PS2 classics on that. I would much rather Sony focus on making more HD remakes with trophy support and other extras. But that is just my opinion.

Dude, 80GB of data is HUGE for a game. No game even come close to maxing it. Of course they're going with Blu-Ray again, they make way too much profit that way (which is perfectly acceptable) with the movie crowd.
