Ok, so heres the situation.

I went to a Between the Trees concert last night, and when I left my PS3 was working perfectly fine. So anyway we leave at like 5:00, and we got back around 12 or 1. So I was pretty tired and I headed on to sleep instead of doing what I usually do and play the ps3 night. Well my friend who had come over during the concert told me that the ps3 would not read any game discs, so I sat down and check it myself. Sure enough, the game discs would not come up under the gaming section on the XMB. By this time I'm freaking out because my PS3 has already screwed up once this year and ended with me having to buy an $80 HDD. So I did a quick format in hope that it could fix the problem. It did a really quick format, probably less than 1 minute. So I rebooted the PS3 and the "Connect the controller to the Ps3 by the USB port" message came up. I did, and nothing happened. Thats where I'm at right now. I plugged it into both USB ports, I tried it without the USB, I tried a different cord, but yet it still is stuck on the screen. Does anyone know how I can fix this, what parts I'll need to purchase, or if I'll have to send it in to SONY? Please help.

Try resetting your controller. Take a pen or pin, basically anything with a small tip, and press the reset button on the back of the controller. When the back of the controller is facing you, the reset button is to the Left of the L2 trigger.

I don't think Reconfiguring your console will solve the disc problem though, as I beleive your blu-ray drive is out, but good luck anyway. If your blu-ray drive is dead, you will have to call Sony and send the console to them for repair.

Thanks alot, this is very helpful. I'll go check it out now. And honestly I'm glad that it chose to mess up right now, because I have school projects to catch up on, and it would be distracting plust the fact that I am going to thanksgiving. The long drive will give me time to catch up on my reading instead of my gaming.
