I want to buy either Motorstorm or Sakate for my PS3 and can't decide which one to get.

I've tried both demos and still can't decide.

They both have similar reviews (Metatcritic puts them both in the 80s).

Motorstorm seems like more relaxed casual fun with cool online, but could get boring quick.

Skate seems really cool with a lot of depth but may require too much mental effort (too many "do this trick, now do this trick' missions where you have to memorize all the types of tricks etc.).

Anyone have any additional pros and cons for the games to help me decide?

Thanks.

Im not into skate games. So that kinda a bad question for me lol. THUG in the days was ok. But I was not good at it like some. Put me on a Dirtbike, and thats a different situation.

i would say go for Motorstorm. I've had it since it came out and i love it. The single player is good to get you driving pretty good ad the online is terrific. and i still play it occasionally, especially with the steady flow of DLC for it

lol, youve got a tricky decision there. both great games.

allright:

For the initial impression motorstorm will blow you away for the first few hours, then again so will skate, but not as much as motorstorm.

and thats where motorstorm goes downhill. there is soooo little content that replayability is almost negative. I stopped playing it after the first few weeks. the online is allright, not as good as people make it out to be.

However Skate is an ingenious genre defying game that really reinvents skate games with the inovativeflickit system, the content will keep you going for months and the online is also top-noch.

Id say for impressing your xbox-owning m8s on a friday night with your ps3 (although motorstorm doesnt have split screen mulit-player) motorstorm is a good choice.

But for getting a lot out of a great game that wont lie in your cabinet collecting dust for the next few months:

I WOULD DEFFINITELY GO FOR SKATE.

hope that helped.

Oh I know. All I play constantly is COD4 online. I'm just now considering the possibility of maybe getting one other game to play!

Very helpful! Thank you. I'm now leaning towards Skate, but other people are saying that Motorstorm online is really good (and after playing the single player demo I think online would be incredible).

I have no interest in Skate and I got rid of my copy of Motorstorm as soon as I bought Dirt (single player) and Sega Rally (online multiplayer).

if you dont mind being angry your first 30 min with a game than go for skate. its got one hell of a learning curve. on the other hand, once you get the hang of it, its a blast. you literally play for hours without even realizing it. personally im not into skating games as much as i used to be but this is a definate improvement over the same old tony hawk routine.

motorstorm is pretty much how everyone else describes it.friggin awesomefor a few hours than pretty dull. if you want any extra play time out of it you have to go online

I bought skate. for my 360 (before it bricked), and was totally dissapointed. I absolutely LOVED the demo, but I was completely baffled by my dissapoint.

Now Motorstorm is a different story. I bought it when I got my PS3 in May last year and I still play it from time to time.

Prior to COD4, you pretty much have to go in house Sony games over 3rd party. Skate has big framerate issues in spots that make it almost unplayable. Motorstorm has a myriad of dlc and is simply gorgeous. Not to mention it's loads of fun. Get Motorstorm.

Ok - I went with Skate, primarily because it appeared to have more depth than Motorstorm.

Skate is friggin aesome! It is sooo insanely cool skating around the big open world and just jumping on rails and stuff. And that's without even getting into the career stuff!

Anyhow, I may get Motorstorm also (saw it used for $25 Canadian!)

I, personally, would go with Motorstorm. I'm playing it right now, and still enjoy it. It gets sadistically evil after a few levels, but it's still fun. Skate, on the other hand, I played the demo for 5 minutes and deleted it.

I would say MotorStorm. Crazy rally with bikes, trucks, buggies, cars... The Race is never dull.

good choice, by the time ur finished enjoying skate motorstorm will be a classic! I think many people just dont like skate because they dont like skating games. I skate in real life and Skate is one of my favorite games. I cant wait for a sequel
