please help MGS4 freezing!

if u havent heard a small percentage of MGS4 games are causing ps3's to freeze. The disc/question mark icon apears at the top left of the screen and the game freezes. I have looked at other forums and have found the same exact thing happeing to many others. I want a solution now bc i cant pass act 3 bc of this! Unistalling and reinstalling doesnt help, neither does returning my ps3 setting to default system settings! I just want to play my fav game ever MGS4 : ( HELP!

same thing happened to me, but that was on my first playthrough & it didn't freeze, i beat it three times & it's A-OK. however, today during MGO, it happened. i'm returning it & getting a new copy.GUNpoint_

um dont the loading circle appear in the top right hand side of the screen? Either you dont know youre left from youre right or youre just trolling

Yes, MGS4 has now killed both of my PS3s. The first was six months old and had been used heavily. The second was just out of the box and never used for anything else. The first is on it's way back from Mexico right now and I guess the second will be on it's way to Mexico shortly. I can't believe more people are not seeing this issue. Both of mine were 40gb versions. I think MSG4 taxes the system resources more than any other game. One thing I noticed was that it took forever to save MGS4 during a BBE run while also downloading demos at the same time...something I never had a problem with before.

He is VERY CORRECT. This happened to me a few days ago and i initially thought that it was due to my installing firmware 2.4. I got a blinking alternating question mark (?) and disc in pale blue on the top left corner of the screen. To solve this problem (albeit probably temporarily), what i did was put off my PS3 for a while and then i played FIFA 3 hours later and it worked. I then tried MGS4 and it worked. I think it is the problem with the disc. This guy is not a troll. Thanks for posting Topic creator, i seriously thought that 2.4 had done some serious damage.

I played and finished MGS4 3 times before the 2.40 update and had no problems. After the 2.40 update, the disc label on the screen appeared freezing MGS4 for 1 sec and resuming. It happened twice yesterday. 2.40 HAS ISSUES, SONY fix them already!AgentH

It could be that mgs4 disc is dual layer, i think this is first game with dual layer so ps3 may have troubles reading itmamkem6

No. It has to do with the new firmware. Like I said above, I finished it 3 times before the 2.40 update. When they released the firmware, these problems started to occur. F***ed up move from Sony!

No problem with my copy so far and I've beaten the game twice. LuckyLy
