I just asked some friends - who don't own PSPs - two said World of Warcraft, one said a game where you can make real money and the other said something like the Sims, but online and always running, even with your PSP off.

Therefore Sony need to make a perpetual world, Blizzard-style RPG with actual currency to be earned.

Imagine, at the start you could be a farmer - plant some crops, water them, switch off. Someone tries to steal them while you're away, if they're stronger than you - you lose them, so you have to start again. Next time the crops grow and you sell them so you can get some armour or go to - i dunno - magic school and learn a spell. Buying and selling with real people and growing your character.

Or start as a warrior earning rewards, starts off with typical rubbish gear; leather sword and chewing-gum shoes. Start out by hitting ants to earn 5c for a fire poker. Now you can beat off local trouble makers and get some decent armour...

But the final point is when you hit L50 or some other limit, you can put your character on the game's own version of eBay for cash... however much money dependent on how much effort you put in.

Then start again doing something new

Woah, nice idea man. Still, WoW is so much better and I honestly dont think the PSP can cope with the outstanding demands of an MMO (I mean come on, its only got 333MHz).

omfg people if they do a redisgned model of the psp with all th e sh** you want theres no way in h3ll the psp's price'll ever decrease.

And thats what it reallly needs to compete with DS,,not more games(yes it would be nice) cuz there are plenty good games out

there what the psp needs is a price decrease for the system as well as for the games

The psp needs more love from sony in terms of taking advantage of features (i.e. infrastructure play not just peer-to-peer bc i dont know anyone else with one) like a good multimedia download service that would take advantage of sony's holdings in music and movies (an itunes like service with game demos, downloadable ps1 games straight to psp, music, downloadable full length movies, arcade games, HOME!!!!!).  They also need third parties to stop making crappy ports and build psp games up from the ground up.  It's no wonder that the best games on psp are either in house/ 2nd party (syphon filter, killzone, daxter, ratchet & clank) or 3rd parties that have had great relationships with sony (mgs:po, tekken:dr).  I also think that they need to drop the prices on games to like $25-30 because $40 is a bit much for a portable game.  I think psp also needs some original ips built specifically with the psp in mind
