With all these problems and concerns, will you be going back to the psn?

Personally, I believe that I will. Though this breach worries me, i did not have a credit card stored. Even if the info that you had stored in there (name, address, DOB, etc.) was obtained, it is not much different than the info that other millions of people have on display on their social networking sites i.e. facebook. I am looking forward to the exclusives coming out in the near future. Besides, everyone deserves a second chance...no?

I would like to hear some reasoning on the decisions or indecisions, for example:

1.Yes........i had fake info in there anyway, etc.

2.No.........there is no trust, etc.

3.Maybe.........what's going to be done to assure me it will not happen again, etc.

Yes. Why not? Trust isn't an issue. Figuring out how likely your information is to be disseminated IS. And after this whole thing, it's rather unlikely.

I think this PSN issue is being blown outta proportion in terms of how gamers would react post-network shutdown. You'd think it's WWIII or something...

To be honest i dont see why anyone wouldnt. This could happen anywhere it just happened to happen here and they took care of it knowing it would take an unknown amount of time. They have given out warning to change personal info, pws, etc... And as for the length of time being down its not like they want it any more than you do but they know they dont want to come back up. Anyone who chooses "No" probably wasnt a PSN member to begin with or is just overly paranoid.

No. This is the last straw. Sony didn't give a damn about their customer's security. They could have taken the time to encrypt our personal information. Instead they just sat their and left it open waiting for something like this to happen. It shows how arrogant they are, and the lack of respect they have for their customers. I didn't realise Sony was this arrogant and stupid. Now our personal information is out there floating around who knows where. What's to keep these people from giving that information to the wrong hands. After all they have our addresses too. I understand that this could have happened to anyone. They could have at least taken a few steps to increase security instead of sitting back and doing absolutely nothing. If Sony would have taken the time and effort to increase security before all of this, I would have felt much better in knowing that they tried their best. The sad part about all of this is that Sony hasn't learned a thing from this.

Sometime ago Sony put some sort of spyware on music CD's that left a person's computer vunurable to outside attack.
Here's the link below for anyone interested in reading about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal

They didn't learn their lesson then, they are not going to learn it now, and they won't learn it tommorow.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to defend any company that does this kind of crap to their customers. People can't be this stupid can they? I don't get it. What makes a person want to defend a company that compromised the personal information of millions of people?

I'll still remain with Sony. I'll never give my card details though, lucky I never did in the first place. I'll just use the PSN cards.

I almost became a PS+ user. Thank God, I didn't make the move. And, to answer your question, yes I'll still stay with Sony.

This wont stop me using the PS3 but am starting to hate Sony. I hate how they they delt with the launch of the PS3 and the lack of games. I hate that i bought a PS3 at launch and bought 3 years warranty for my PS3 to break 3years and 1 months with Sony wanting to charge alot of money for a fault that alot of people had. I hate how i couldn't use the hard drive in my new slim PS3 and lost all my info as i didn't back up because i trusted Sony to make reliable hardware. I really hate their PR department that either doesn't give out enough info or just make up lies.

All my multiplateform game i have been buying has been for the PS3 even though they just let MS take the timed exclusive. Now am going back to buying multiplateform for the Xbox and any arcade game i will buy from xbox live.

I used to like Sony but after the PS3 now i dont. They destroyed their repertation. So i will use PSN but only with existing games and exclusives.

I wont sell my my PS3, but after it fails, I will not go back to Sony even tho have had one of their consoles since 97. This is just the final straw in a few issues I've had with Sony

Yes, because from what I have seen nothing is unhackable. Sony should have just kept their damn mouths shut and not sued everyone they could regarding modifying their system and they probably wouldn't be in this mess. We will end up with a much more secure system in place so I will absolutely remain a member, they only thing that will change for me is that I won't be using my CC anymore.

This is why you don't buy first generation hardware. It also has bugs, kinks, and isn't always very reliable. The 360 was the same thing, and most technology is this way. I always wait until atleast a few revisions come out before I buy in so they can work out the kinks.

I'm in for yes, and yes I did put fake stuff in my account like address. The choices don't sport my country there. There's no apparent reason why I would quit PSN. PSN is free, anything that's free won't hurt you. :)

Yes, because I hate people with extremeist points of view. So what, a security breach happened, this happens almost weekly at major corporations the world over. Hell, if Sony hadn't taken the PSN down no one would even be complaining right now because they'd still get to game.

Thats really why people are complaining... most don't even understand the ramifications of their identity being stolen... and if Sony hadn't taken down the PSN, they'd still be absorbed in COD:BO and not paying attention to their credit statements to see if they have experienced identity theft.

For myself, sure I'm upset that my data was stolen. But with a little vigalence... watching my statements and my credit report... this is really just a blip on the radar.

People do love to make unneccessary drama though...

Yea. I mean, if I stopped supporting every company that ever had a problem with hackers, I would be VERY limited on things to do, what to buy, etc. People swear by things like eBay, Paypal, craigslist, but these companys have more security holes than swiss cheese.

Honestly it will depend on if I was hacked or not. I dont have a credit card on my PSN so Im not worried about that, but if i cant use my PSN ID, Ill be out for a while on the PSN thing. If not, its just back to the way it was. why should a let something that was out of both mine and sony's hands effect me to not buy anymore of sony's product. Im aware sony could have shut it down earlier and Im aware they didnt have the best security, i just dont have any real hate against sony, they did what other companys should do, protect their product. And honestly who saw this coming? i sure didnt.

Either way, PSN still has treated me better than XBL, so Ill stick with it.

You also wouldn't have a bank as most have been hacked in the last 6 months. You could store all your cash in a mattress.

I'm undecided, the loss of all my personal data (Name, Address, Postcode, Phone No., DOB) has really p****d me off, yes you can cancel your CC and be wary of what expenditures come out of your account but in the end it is the loss of the above data that's the main problem, especially given the amount of people out there willing to use this information to defraud companies to line their own pockets.

You do realize that all of the above information is readily available to anyone that wants it? :P I typed my name into Google and not only does it show my address, I've pulled up a few of my past cell phone numbers, two of the schools I've gone to, and the cities I've lived in. And this was a basic Google query!

Is it ridiculous though? Supporting a company that takes a week long to give a sketchy response? I'm not a fanboy, but Microsoft or Apple would have come out right away and said what was going on. If not the first day, at least by day 2. A lot of people have jumped ship because of how they handled the situation.

Sure, why not?? Any network can fall victim to hacker(s). I'd just recommend that users purchase PSN cards from now on as they should have from the beginning :) I know it's all about convienience, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Just my 2 cents
