Yes there is. The 40gb can not play ps2 games. And 2 usb's insteed of 4. And no memory card reader. And good luck on getting the 80gb. They don't make it anymore.

do they still make a 60 gig then? I own a lot of ps2 games and it would be kind of a waste not to be able to play them anymore.

I've got a 40gb PS3 and i picked it up for around $598 AUD. But unfortunately no, they've stopped making the 60gb version. Just buy a 40gb and keep your PS2. Problem solved :D

the 60GB was discontinued a LONG time ago along with the 20GB.... it's the best system though.
The 80GB system will be able to play probably all of them.
or yeah, just use your PS2, the upscaling doesn't make a drastic difference.

Use this site to check if the 80GB will play all of the PS2 games you own

You can also find much more information to help you make your decision in my PS3 FAQ Thread which I've linked in my sig.

Or if you're desperate for a PS3 that can play your PS2 games, try eBay. Just be extremely careful though, and remember it won't be cheap.

I'd say look at the stores nearby, it's not because they doesn't make any that each stored all sold their stock of 60/80 GB. The SOny Styles web store is often re-stocked with 60/80 GB versions as well.

If he lives in NA he'll have better luck then in Europe. I live in Canada and at GameSpot they still have a bunch of 60/80 GB in stores, I asked when I got there earlier.

I live in Australia by the way lol, not Europe. I was quite dissapointed actually, because yeah everywhere i went they had taken them off the shelves. Atleast i got any PS3 in the end, and it was a gift so i didn't have to pay for it, so im grateful :) Anyway yeah, so just keep up the hunt for your 60gb PS3, you won't regret it in the end. And then you can cash in your PS2 for some more games ;)
