[QUOTE="hiryu3"]so again how is it a rip off when you haven't spent anything to get Home nor do you have to buy anything in it? A ripoff is when you pay for something and you could have gotten said items for free.Denji

A question that could stand against that would be "Why isn't it free in the first place?" Especially if it's just a "Second Life rip off" chat room.

you must not play second life.. just like in HOME their are free things in SL.. but most of which you have to pay "lindins" for.. SL's form of money... how do you get "lindins"? you convert real world currency into digital currency to buy *gasp* virtual items.

(sigh) here we go AGAIN. Let's get something straight so we can put this issue to bed: Home is OPTIONAL and yes, it's also FREE. If you spend a considerable amount of time on Home (like I used to do) then buying virtual items whether they be for your Home character or residence is NOT a waste of money. It's an investment like anything else. Besides people are making it sound like you're being charged an arm and a leg for new clothes or a purchase of a Summer Home. I mean cmon some items go for .49 cents!!!! some items cost .99 cents, $1.99, and we are talking SMALL amounts here. Some are items can either be earned or are indeed free. If you don't like ANY of this then DON'T GO HOME! if you don't want to buy anything in Home YOU DON'T HAVE TO! plenty of free stuff to be had there. Yes, there are people to meet there and some of them happen to be Gamespot users.

I'll be Home again I'm just waiting for the updates. You have to remember that Home is always evolving and it's not a final product. So, the choice is yours: GO HOME or RUN AWAY FROM HOME!;)

Heh...haven't been on Home in ages. Last time I went on, it was to download that free enchanted forest house. Anyway, I wouldn't say Home was a ripoff. It's not like they twist your arm to enjoy it. I mean, everything you pay for is purely cosmetic.

[QUOTE="SnarfShady2001"]

So what is the GamerScore good for?

SuperMario254

gamerscore is for the 360... on the PSN we have "levels"... how can you spend levels on an item? It's not a rip-off seeing as you did NOT have to pay for HOME, and you thus have a choice in paying for clothing and other items in the virtual world.. do I spend money in home? Sure do, but it's money that I have left over from things on the PS store.

i agree

While I wouldn't give a counterfeit dime for any of the accessories that Sony sells for Home, I did have fun playing & solving some of the Xi puzzles.

For the most part, I think Sony has done a good job with Home. If it wasn't for the impulsive, pea-brained imbeciles who buy the accessories, Sony probably would have given those to us for free as well. But, as long as there are intellectual pygmies out there willing to spend money to literally buy nothing, I don't blame Sony one bit for taking advantage of those fools. I would too.

Home is awesome, and no one's forcing you to pay. There are still a lot of free things. You can win free clothing and and ornaments by completing the Ward of Despair in the Siren space and you can get a free EA sports shirt by winning a race in the EA Sports complex. There are a few other free things but I'm not listing them all. A little while ago, they were giving away free apartments and they were also giving away free Resident Evil shirts.

Home is really cool, the best part of Home is the fact that they continue to add more and more so it never gets old. There are a lot of fun mini-games and some of them have free clothing or furniture as your reward.

wow this thread is rather useless, home is free, what's the ripoff? It offers something else for gamers. If it doesn't appeal to you then don't use it. Come on people use your brains here and stop making useless threads.

i do have a gripe with a company that tries to sell virtual clothing and furniture for REAL MONEY. sadly theres some idiots who will actually spend their hard earned (?) money to buy this crap. but then again its their hard earned money so what they do with their money has nothing to do with me. actually it does, because as long as these people continue to pay for this crap sony will continue to keep charging for it. money talks. i personally wouldnt spend a buck on that trash if i had a buck and some change left over from a psn purchase. that extra dollar can come in handy for a later game...

It is a very cool theory but it seems as if it has been a work in progress going no where for the longest time...

Now on the good side think of the idea of having your friends coming over to your place to game in a virtual world and you guys can go out and do **** on PSHome and stuff like that? Its pretty cool.

The problem is that it has been in beta for the longest time now and they should really start to make some improvements upon it and add some more features and things to do around the house and around the town. Maybe a way to develop some sort of "caste" system between the higher ranked gamers and the lower ranked gamers? Make some parallels to the real world maybe? Thats my thoughts

I find it funny that a lot of the same people who use real money on virtual clothes and furniture are the same ones ripping on Live for charging $3 and change per month.

everyone who is saying HOME is a rip off show really think about things if there are people on HOME paying money for virtual items and they are enjoying it then good for them. This is still benifit to you because atmo everyone is paying $0 to use the PSN network and you can partly thank that to the people paying for virtual item's in home!

Its not a rip off because you aren't forced to buy anything. The leftover change from PSN cards usually don't find much use for me though, so I'll sometimes buy a shirt or something, plus I feel better that I'm not paying $40 a year for my PSN service, so there's that.

The only way home would be worth my time is if it had more chess boards. I thought it'd be fun to play chess with some of my PSN friends, but I get there and its only 3 boards we waited for like 2 hours and still couldn't get even one game in so either release a chess sim on the PS store or add more boards to play or in apartment boards so you can bring friends to your space to play.

I like playing poker and the arcade games, as well as chess, mancala, racing, and all the other ones are fun as well. I definitely like unlocking things for my house and character though (20,000 points on Echochrome for a table??!!!).
