gettin a psp wanna know how you play ps1 games on the psp, i know you can buy em on the psn thru the ps3 or sumthing like that but i remeber reading that if you own the game you can legally play it on your psp, therefore leading me to believe you can play games not avilable to buy yet. is their an official emulator that sony has out or sumthing close?

if anything leads to "illegal" or whatever just say so and we'll leave it at that.

i know that you can and all that illegally but i wanna kno if you can and if so how you can do it LEGALLY.

emphasis on legal !!!!

Ok look.

Even if you did get the game legally.

You need to install illegal stuff on your psp to make them run.

So, you can't talk about it on here.

I don't know of a non illegal way to play them >_>

But either way, the owners of those old ps1 games couldnt care less if you download the games for free. They don't sell them anymore anyway and can not make a profit on them.

Modifying your PSP for your own use is not prohibited by law. Probably selling modified units could result in a lawsuit by Sony. But why are you against homebrewing? it's unleashing the true potential of the PSP and customers will be more satisfied with the product.

To i-rock-socks: Those GIFs on my sig are from Raō Den Gekitō no Shō, a 2007 anime movie, which is retelling certain events of the 80's anime TV series, Hokuto no Ken.

First, you need a PS1 game disc and a PS3, then connect your PSP to your PS3. Put your PS1 disc to your PS3 after that i dont know whats next but i think there something about converting your PS1 game into a PSP game then it will automatically copy to your PSP im not sure though.

Modifying a PSP is not illegal. It is the same as buying a car and modifying the engine. You can modify it, and even sell a modified PSP (don't know if a place like Gamestop would buy them). What is illegal is selling a modified PSP with roms or isos on it. That is illegal. As for ripping a PSOne game to your modified PSP, it is perfectly legal if you own the game, and there are legal ways of ripping the PSOne game to your PC hardrive. You can also download the game from a torrent site for example, proivded you own the original game. This also applies to other roms such as SNES roms. Basically, once you purchase your PSP or your PSP game, you can do whatever you want with it. You can buy a PSP and bash it into pieces with a hammer for all Sony cares. They got their money. So please stop with all the "Modifying PSPs is illegal crap." Piracy is illegal, modifying is not.
