PS2 out selling PS3 whats the heck is going on!

    I can't believe there that many gamers out there who still don't own one? I mean where are these people coming from? I guess price does make a huge impact on what people will buy. Why else would the cheapest 3rd Gen the Wii have such high sells. I'm not a gaming analyest but this can't be a what Sony was hoping for.

DS = 238,869 since nobody reads my posts Reggie said that they werent able to ship enough DS's to the US.  Retailers werent even getting restocked until the last half of the month.  He also said the shipments wouldnt return to normal until march.

I was thing about that but since its going to cost them more then everyone else due to the "Euro" how much help to you realy thing there ging to bring? I'm guessing only the hard Core are going to be buying for alreast the first year. But who knows maybe I'm wrong and Europe is Sony savor.vip_kass

Because truth be told, despite it being almost seven years old, it's the best god damn console available.

Umm yes it did sell and infact you couldn't find a 360 for months.

Let's face it, price IS a big concern for most people that's why the PS2 is still selling so well. If the PS3 was cheaper it would probably sell better, I'm sure of it.

Sure they are but lets be real the PS2 gaem sells in Europe on stronger there then in the US so I wouldn' think there going to be a huge differents once the PS3 hits there stores.vip_kass

Hardcore gamers and Sony fanboys will buy the PS3 when it launches in Europe but what about the casual player? Until Sony drops the price it'll always be behind the PS2, Wii and 360.

I'm guessing it's because they are (the gaming industry) getting new players to play video games so the Sony PlayStation 2 is thee console to get into. I can't say the same for the Microsoft (1st) XBOX because they abandoned their last console for what reason I don't know. With that said they're still making games for that console exclusives like God of War II (2) to games that are on next - gen like Spider - Man 3. That is why I think Sony is smart because their next - gen console is really expensive yet you have an option to  get a Sony PlayStation 2 for a lot less with games available on both (Sony PlayStation 3 and Sony PlayStation 2).

The Nintendo company also didn't abandon their console at the same time don't have as much games as the Sony PlayStation 2 does. Plus when people are ready to move to next - gen their favourite games can be played on the Sony PlayStation 3 which is an advantage over Microsoft XBOX 360. Honestly it is amazing of the amount of games made for the Sony consoles over the years that can be played on the Sony PlayStation 3 it is like redefining a gaming console.

With the new slim design of the PlayStation 2 over the other console of that generation will intrigue people to buy it.

So it's like the Sony company is saying, complaining about the price point of the Sony PlayStation 3 then buy the Sony PlayStation 2 we're still making games for it. When you're ready to move to the next - gen you'll still be able to play those games and then some.

You should be happy that Sony sells a lot of PS2's. At least they make money of of selling those as compared to PS3 where they lose a couple of hundred bucks per unit.
Its money that gets invested back into the PS3 so I cant really see anything bad about the PS2 doing so well.

Who is going to pay for $600 console with no AAA's? Sony should have learned with the PSP, hardware doesnt make the system, its the software. Why go after the tech junkies when the causual gamers make up a much larger share of the market. So far, Sony has made every wrong move. Dude, no disrespect intended. I own a Ps1, Ps2, PSP, and froze my butt off to get a PS3, being such a fan makes me a bit concerned about where Sony is headed. I was just expresing that even though Sony has had success in the handheld market, they are not #1, and I have higher expectations for the PS3 than that, so I think Sony needs to focus on the games.

So what if the PS2 outsells the PS3?

Right now, the PS2 is the best bet for any gamer out there. It's only $130, has a huge software library full of every type of game you could want, you can buy most of the games for under $30, and the console and games are in stock everywhere. Plus there will be software support till the end of this year. It may not have all of the latest and greatest next gen titles (of which there are very few), but for a casual gamer who is not willing to pay $250-$600 to jump into the next gen, it's perfect.

Besides, it's not like it's hurting Sony or anything. They make money on every console sold, unlike the way they lose money on every PS3. It and the PSP are the only thing's keeping their game division from losing more than they are losing now.
