Not all games require installation, it's just a option which most developers decide to do. Dead Space for example and I believe it didn't require any "actual" installation as I've checked the save and game data utility folders, couldnt find any deadspace program/software with more then 1MB.Fyrmest

Exactly. That's what I was saying. Dead Space is a multiplat game that was also on the 360. The game had to be limited in size to fit on the 8.5gb DVD for the 360. If it was PS3 exclusive and used most of the 50gb Blu Ray disc, it would require a lengthy and large install. As more games use the majority of the storage space on Blu Rays, we'll have more games with a 5gb or larger install because the PS3's Blu Ray drive is only a 2X speed. It can only read the data so fast. The installs counter this by putting info on the HDD.

It's fine for now with only a few games needing them, but if every game took advantage of the 50gb's, all games would need them. We'd all be running out of HDD space.

I can't believe games out for PS3 are no difference with other platforms, it's such a waste of that big fat juicy 50GB Blu-Ray disc space and a huge shame. Look at MGS4 for example, filled up the disc, the gameplay was 'long enough' but with that kick-in movie seems like forever. Most games on PS3 I believe only use 10% of the disc space due to multi-platforming, when is the day gonna come when they start developing games (ill leave out killzone 2 since they might really be using up that huge space) exclusive to PS3? to really use up all that empty space. I have about a thousand music tracks and 22GB of movies which I could EASILY slap into the Assassins Creed Blu-Ray disc. There are two types of blu-ray discs that I read, a single layer 20GB and a 50GB dual layer and dual layer is confirmed for use on PS3, dont know about single layer but i doubt any games use it since sony doesnt like paying alot of money to distribute two types of blu-ray discs for companies.Fyrmest
those games will come... just be patient... developers are yet to get in making games for the PS3, but eventually they will be able harness and maximize its power...

Who cares as long as the games are good. The PS3 still has many years to reach it's full potential.Cody13_2012

Yeah, it's only been 2 years since it's release. Also Sony claimed that there will be a 10 year life span for the PS3.
For those of you who aren't good with maths, they have 8 more years to improve.

Bluray discs are 25gb, 50gb 100gb, 150gb,250gb. If PS3 ever starts selling like mad like the PS2 did then devs will start caring to put more into the games like MGS 4 did because they'll get their money's worth.
