PS3 almost done?

i said PS3 so this isnt the wrong board!!!

What do you guys think about the PS4? ive read from a couple places that the PS4 will try to get a head start over the next xbox so it might come out december of next year?

If the Ps4 comes out next year I leave the Sony Brand.Fightingfan

Sony said they have a 10 year plan for PS3. Its been 4 years and 2 months. So i'd say not even close. I still think we have yet to see the true power the PS3 can push out. I pray they use up that 10 years before even announcing a PS4, i want as much use of my $500 investment as possible.

so december 2012 will be 6 years....

I still say 2012 and I'm sticking to it. :)

1. When it does come out, I think it will be aimed at being more casual to capture a wider audience much like Nintendo did with the Wii and Microsoft is doing with the Kinect.
2. I think it will be backwards compatable with the PS3 to retain their customer base.
3. I believe the industry will be heading towards a digital era. The option to download games will follow what Netflix and Hulu are doing to the movie industry and what iTunes is doing to the music industry. Since HDD are getting larger and larger, it would make for a good business move and would save lost revenue in used game purchases over new game purchases.
4. I also foresee trophies having a monitary value to encourage purchases, gameplay and justification for my next prediction...
5. Monthly service fee's will hit the PS4, eventually making the transition from PSPlus.This would offset the cheap price the PS4 would need to have in order to stay competitive and justify improved features.

IMO these changes are business savey. It saves companies money by cutting out the middle man, it is more convienient for the consumer, rewards the player and gives Sony an edge over their competitors.

Ask yourself these questions.

If a console offered features like cross-game chat etc, a discount on games if you downloaded them, played your PS3 games, would let you purchase things with your trophies, allif you paid a MSF...would you be interested? I think most would.

Would this be a profitable business move for Sony? I don't see why not.

Sony will continue to support the PS3, even when they come out with the PS4. The fact is, handheld devices will soon be ecplipsing the hardware power of the current consoles. If Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo have any chance of staying relevant in the gaming industry, they'll have to get off their butts before 2012 or they leave the door WIDE open for any start up company from nowehere to come in and steal the entire market.

Yeah, not expecting the PS4 for awhile. I'll continue to support and enjoy my PS3.

Sony pretty much said no PS4 for awhile. I say 2013-2020.

Oh i see, well i hope they hold off on PS4 for at least a few more years, they MUST make more insane exclusives, i still think the library seems some what small, for games that are in my taste i mean. These development times seem soooo slow, i at least want to see a couple more Final Fantasy games before the PS4 (not counting FF XIII-2 >_>)
