I tried to turn it on and off and it goes from green to yellow to red. I have in a very well ventelated area. and mostly use it to watch movies.

150.00 bucks to get it fixed. that sucks. I have the 60 gb. they said they would either fix it or replace it with the same mode.

Yep, $149+tax to get it fixed. I'm tempted to just purchase a power supply and try swapping it out myself. I've read that a lot of times the magnetic relay switch goes out and that's what causes a lot of the failures. I do hear a loud click from the power supply area when I try to boot it up just before it shuts back down, so hopefully that will fix the problem. If not, I'll just send it in. I'm already past my warranty anyways.caseystryker

there's alot of success stories with heating the GPU with a blow dryer or heat gun. well with fixing the YLOD anyways. i dunno about your problem.

You got the YLoD, before it starts flashing red, you'll see the yellow light for a split second then it starts to blink red. You'll have to send your system in and mostly get a refurbished system returned to you. Also you'll lose all your saved data. Sorry dude, its been happening to alot of people. It happened to me last november. Anyways good luck! 1-800-345-SONY (North America Number)

I've been seeing a lot of posts about YLOD's lately. Is this only an issue with the 60GB model of the PS3?

Has this ever happened to someone who has a PS3 other than the 60GB model?

It can happen with all models, but I've seen a lot of 60gig models biting the dust recently. I got mine in November 2006. I'm going to take the power supply out and test it with a voltage meter to see if that may be the problem. If not, I'll just send the stupid thing in. I know it isn't the HD, though. Not to mention there is a loud clicking noise coming from around the PSU when I try booting it up which leads me to believe this may be the problem. We'll see I guess.
