Ps3 controller disconnect problem

Hey guys, Im having a bit of trouble with my ps3 controller. Ill Be playing a game or something, and all of a sudden my ps3 controller will become unresponsive, usally causing me to boost into a cliff in motorstorm, or something of the sort. This will happen for about 5-7 seconds, then it will return to normal like nothing ever happened.(btw, whenever this happens the led lights on the controller are fine, and the controller is never low on battery power.) Is this normal, or something I should be worried about?
