and the xbox 360 using what is it 8gb i think

I'm just wondering which ps3 exclusive game has taken the most memory up of a blu ray

and if games like gta were just for ps3 how much do you think they could of used.

Im just wondering but dose the 360 hold back the ps3 with some games.

MGS4 I think is supposed to fill a 50 gig. One of the things to fills up space the fastest is uncompressed audio. Currently, I believe Resistance takes a ton of space.

Heavenly Sword - 18.75 GB

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 5.95 GB

Call of Duty 4 - 5.34 GB

Lair - 22.92 GB

Unreal Tournament 3 - 3.43 GB

As far as I remember:

Resistance - Around 21 GB

Uncharted - Around 26 GB

It seems that the multiplatform games are smaller than the exclusive PS3 games. I think that's normal. GT5 Prologue is an exception, but don't forget that it's only Prologue :)

MGS4 and FFXIII and Versus XIII will fill up almost the whole disc with content. You can also expect MMORPGs to take up most disc space there as well.

The problem is that the PS3 BD-Drive is TOO SLOW. This is why all these games are requiring installs, becuase they can't stream all that data off the disk fast enough.

The point being....all that storage space is useless as far as games are concerned.

It also comes at a price of the higher cost to make a PS3, thus less being sold, which is the reason the PS3 gets no big exlcusives (like the PS2 had in stacks). The point being that the BD-Drive is the reason the PS3 is in last place and also why it's likely to stay there.

Uncharted needs no install data and has no loading time whatsoever... I guess it's all down to how the devs use the technology.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read, listen fanboy, The ability to store 50 gigs on one double layered disc is not and never will be a negative point, something that removes the limitations of storage, which are the worst types of limitations, can only be good, and what higher cost are you talking about. To get a 360 with the same specs as the ps3 would cost over 1000 dollars with the extra add ons, such as wifi adapter, hd dvd which FAILED, live subscription, and everything else they make you pay for. Installs are not because of disc speed, or ALL GAMES WOULD HAVE IT, anyways come talk to me when you are busy replacing discs on ur 360 because all ur favorite games will start coming out on multi discs. No big exclusives, MGS4, LBP, KZ2, FFXIII just some off the very top of my head. Can you remind me of the BIG exclusives that arent going to the ps3? And I said big so dont come back at me with Fable or viva pinata cuz then I just wont value ur opinion, let alone waste my time reading it.

It's odd that you pick Uncharted, becuase it has well documented texture loading issues.

THe difference between the different PS3 models, and how fast each can load data from the disk is the reason almost all future games are going to require installs. Just watch.

alot of the exclusives are huge due to 2 reasons 1) redundant data files to compensate for slow seektime of the drive and 2) uncompressed audio which takes alot more storage than compressed and 7.1PCM

Obviously theres no benefit with 1), with 2) only people with expensive sound systems benefit.

Why do you think all the new games require installs? Because the drive is too slow. They are compensating for that.

More space isn't a guaranteed improvement.

A 500 gallon gas tank on the car would make it drive forever, but it also cuts back on the gas mileage you get and slows it down drastically. Same with the BD-Drive....it's a dog and can't stream games off the disk fast enough for the action.

knowledge owned hulabaloza. So far I didn't see any devs complaining about reading speed yet a lot of devs complain about the ridiculous capacity of the dvd's.A recent example is gta IV.

Exactly.

Proper compression and no redundancy and all those 10+ GB games on the PS3 would be down well under DVD size, guaranteed.

Only massive amounts of video or uncompressed audio is going to fill that space. You just don't need it for the media content in modern video games.

go back to your precious 360 forums you troll, keep trying to convince urself and others that the loud heavy POS you wasted ur money is better than the ps3 or its future proof technology. Listen I have both 360 and ps3, also a wii but does not deserve mentioning here, my 360 has done nothing but collect dust, just because you have something and not the other that doesnt make it better, if you feel bad that you made the wrong decision, there are better ways to handle it, but to convince other people of something they own and you don't, well thats just stupid

You take this too seriously....it's like I insulted your mother.

Read that link above that someone posted. What I'm saying is the truth. The BD-Drive is to slow to stream data. No one is debating this.

But just keep patting Sony on the back for one of the most idiotic decisions ever.....Forcing blu-Ray down gamers throats. Think about this the next time you are waiting for a game to install.

assuming those above file size data are correct, those data really support the uncompressed audio and redundant data files for BR exclusives.

Do you really think Resistance contains 4 times more relevant game data than COD4 or UT3?

Do you really think Motorstorm contains 2-3 times more relevant game data than Burnout Paradise?

Do you really think Heavenly Sword contains 2-3 times more relevant game data than DMC4?

Yeah, but uncharted has some texture loading problems...not a big deal, but it's there. Still, if you let the videos run, most of the problems disappear.

I know killzone 2 will take up a lot due to the fully rendered levels. And I think FFXIII is also going to take a crap load of data, the game world is going to be massive.

Those two games will be large, I'm guessing that'll be due to cut-scenes and uncompressed audio however.

I'm gonna use Crysis again, its the most impressive game this generation (visually) and the game is only 6.5-6.6GB

i'd say thats not a bad price to pay for good load times and no HDD installs
