Is it good for the system or bad ? There isnt really any proper proof that it destroys your console...etc..etc..

But talking logically what do you think ? it helped me alot...made my system less noisy and threw out alot of dust.

For those of you who do not know what i am talking about read below :

*WARNING TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR A DAMGED SYSTEM.HAVE SOME BALLS :D AND TAKE THE RISK LIKE I DID.

To Test the fan.Switch of the main siwtch of PS3(The one at the back).Hold down the Eject button and while holding it down turn on the PS3 from the main switch. The fan will go crazy blowing out alot of dust from the vent. And i think after 15-20 seconds the fan will turn off.Switch of the PS3.Turn it back on and enjoy because all the dust has has gone :) Watch this demonstration

its only safe for different models. like the 40 gb's have a fan test. But for 60s and 20s..you just heat it up and the ps3 thinks its overheating. My fans are really starting to get loud...idk if dust is the problem.

NO NO NO NO. Are you stupid?? The fan test only damages your ps3 and it damages your fan. Sony confirmed it when I called them about it and they said it causes the fan to burn out. Do not do the fan test unless you want to damage your ps3 on purpose.

I have heard of damaged systems because of numerious tests.

Overheating is normally the cause of breakdown following countless tests.

its not as bad as AgentZero225 says it is, sony wouldnt put something like that in if it damages your console and there is no proof it damages it if used properly. But if you do it ofter it might damage the fan, so i would only do this if your system is overheating, or if you are able to perform the fan test before sending in your PS3 for repairs, as i have heard of one person having his warranty Voided because the PS3 was "to dusty"

Edit: the only "safe" fan test is on the 40gb, i wouldnt do the test on the 20gb, 60gb, or 80gb as that requires to overheat you ps3, unless the 80gb has the 40gbs fan test system

BINGO.

Secondly, it only works on the 40GB model.

Thirdly, people who figured out how to do it on the 60GB model are insane. They think it's a "fan test" but really they are overheating the PS3 causing the fan to spin at full speed.

It's harmful for the system, period.

No thanks. It's not about some random kid on a message board caps locking the phrase "have some balls", it's about money. I have a 60gig model and I simply cannot replace it. Model or money wise.
