Ok my ps3 broke, i sent it to sony with no harddrive (so i could save my data) I got my ps3 back today and inside was a new harddrive. I took that out and put my old one in but it says i have to format it. I really dont want to, is there a a way around it? If there isnt do i lose my psn name and all the stats for games like cod4? Not to sure to be honest. I would set up the PS3 with the HDD sony gave you. You should not loose you PS3 data as if you get it up and running just use your PSn account name and pswrd and that should restore a few things.
Your ok, go ahead and reformat it....because all of your PSN information and gaming stats are stored online ''BUT'' you will lose game saves, music and movies that you transfered from you PC to your PS3. Everything that you bought bought from the PS store will be lost too but it all can be redownloaded.
