im new to this gamespot thing so hopefully im doing this right...well my problem is that i have the 80GB ps3 (backwards compatible) but i want to upgrade my HDD, thing is that i dont know exactly what types of hard drives are compatible, can anyone help me out and let me know EXACTLY what type of hard drive im supposed to buy and which ones are compatible? please be specific so i dont have to go to best buy for a 3rd time.

its not the first time this sort of question is being posed. anyways, most of our forumers suggests a 320gb HD rpm5400 SATA HD. im using a seagate one with that specification. use the search topic function, its rather helpful.

2.5 sata laptop HDD. make sure its not a ATA drive. best to buy from a online vendore like newegg.com as most stores like bestbuy rips you bad. you end up payn the same price for a 120 gig drives as you would for a 320 off the net . best brands are Western digitel and segate. i prefer Western D my self.

Any 2.5" SATA from Seagate, Western Digital or Samsung. 5400 or 7200 RPM it is your choice, most go for the former, I personally have the latter.

i upgraded my HDD using 2.5 sata 160 gg ,took me only 10 min to do it , but remamber to back up ur data befor u change ur HDD, and restor it to the new one

whats the difference between a HDD with 5400 and one with 7200 rpm?zohta

the one with 5400 rpm is slower then the 7200 rpm, but the 7200 does get hoter faster
