I got my ps3 and i decided to connect it to the internet, it worked perfectly, everything ok but the only problem is the speed. Its connected trough a wireless router.

I have a 4Mb connection and usually i dload at a max spd of 450kb/sec on average and on the ps3 ime dloading Heavenly Sword demo at a lousy 16kb/sec. Even the browser its uber slow.

Do you think that if i use a cable to the router it will be more faster ?

Hope you help me guys.

I have heard that if you hardwire to your router, your speeds will improve. But I have yet to try it. You are right though. My wireless connection is super slow also. I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and have no problems with speed on all my other devices. My router is just above my PS3, so I know it have to have good signal strength.

I have the same issue. When I am on Xbox live, no problems (and I have a great connection) It's the Playstation network. I hope Warhawk works great considering I have it preorderd. people complain about having to complain about xbox live, but it's worth it. That why the Ps3 network sucks (it's free) I wish they would charge it would get alot faster and a better connection rate. Plus you would get better dowloadable cotent. By the way, make sure you have no security password on and update your firmware. Make sure you do it correctly or your router will be worthless. Hopefully these issues will be adressed in the future. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I really don't think whether or not ya pay for it has anything to do with the speed. I think there are several things that might improve wireless speeds. Possible firmware updates for the router, maybe some software upgrades by Sony for the wireless adapter used by the PS3, or possibly tweaking their servers (if people hardwired to their routers experience the same slow speeds). Again, I have never tried mine wired, so I am not sure if this is just a wireless issue only.

I had the same problem. I have mine hard wired into the router. What I did was put the PS3's IP address in the DMZ, turned off thehardware firewalland reset my router and modem. My speeds increased dramatically.

Using wifi will dramaticaly increase lag, latency and decrease transfer speed, never ever ever use it on a speed related machine.
