As ps3 fans I'm sure you guys see how ps3 gets disrespected by a number of gaming websites and gaming shows. Everyone keeps 4 getting however, that ps3 is in it's second year and 360 is in it's 3rd. Ps3 is doing a good job I think. 360 is cheaper and it has been out longer so of course it should do better than ps3 in sales. It's actually pathetic that the wii is beating it and the wii came out a year after 360 as well.Ps3 should be a fine gaming console but I do believe they gotta lower the price soon because the US is in a recession. So my question to u guys is, how do u think the ps3 is doing? Do u think it's in trouble, ahead of expectations, or fine just where it is now? Let me know your thoughts.

I love my PS3 but I think Sony should launch the next gen Playstation early. They could make the system back compatible and still make money on current software. 360 has this round behind Wii. This strat with Microsoft proved effective last gen with Xbox.

According to vgchartz.com Playstation 3 sales have hit 17.57 million. I feel like this is a huge feat for the PS3. Xbox 360 is at 24.23 million sales because of its $199.99 console. It surely boosted sales up a tenfold. Xbox 360 is going to face some problems when millions of their customers having the arcade model with no hard drive. Playstation 3 is a massive multimedia system, it's a blu-ray player, and has many blockbuster exclusives. The way I see is that, PS3 is playing the game right. Slow and steady wins the race.

IMO PS3 is competitive in terms of quality of the hardware and online functionalities; to my tastes I like more the XMB and Store/Network than the Dahsboard/Marketplace/Live. The two main points agaist PS3 are 1) his price, which is based in big part in the inclusion of the Blu-Ray drive, which is not crucial to videogames -even if it allow to see fullmotion vids an hear uncxompressed audio- and 2) the lack of exclusivities, with a lot of bic franchises going to multiplatform.

Anyway, the PS3 situation in this gen is fine: He has now a few top notch exclusive titles, that will be strongly reinforced in 2009 with games like Killzone 2, and He has the most resistant format to prevent the piracy, which is a very interesting thing to the developers. But some mistakes in his tactical decisions and marketing campaigns with PS3 will destroy any chance to Sony to be competitive in the next gen with PS4. I don't care a lot about this last point because after the Diablo III launchship my interest about any other game will be close to 0, and my PC is always a step or two foward the current gen of consoles.
