Hey guys, a while ago I posted that everytime my ps3 was turned on my laptops would lose the internet connection. Someone told me to turn off the media sharing or whatever the PS3 calls it and that worked. Now however I have a new problem. Yesterday I picked up Warhawk. I got home and excitedly put it in my ps3. I signed into the network and was met with an update. So I updated and restarted like it said. Well when i turned the PS3 back on it says that there was a DNS failure...lame. So i check my laptop and other computers...all hav eno internet connection. Go chekc out my modem and its not receiving anything from the cable ( i have cable internet). I got a new modem and it still wont work and my cable companies indian support cant spell the name of the company they work for so their sending some underpaid, underought idiot with a toolbelt to my house tomorrow to stare at the problem for a few minutes before saying theres nothing he can do. So I thought I'd ask if anyone here has had any simlar problems with the ps3.

A all round DNS error? I dont really see how the PS3 could cause that, you may want to check your router settings, make sure no vital info was reset and left unfilled but it really does sound like your ISP droped you some how... When the guy turns up tomorrow just tell him it stoped working, dont say anything about the PS3 or he'll just assume its the cause of all your problems, that his company didnt make it and therefore it is not his problem

yeah i wouldnt mention the ps3 it would just confuse him. The guy on the phone was trying to convince me its the splitter. I have a splitter that splints one cable into 2. 1 goes into the modem and the other into a cable box. But the cable is working fine and i even switched around the cables. Both give my tv cable but neither give me internet. Maybe they just have it out for me...

This is weird, I rented Warhawk this week and have the same problem with my network after the update. I may call sony support to help me out. My router is a Linksys wireless-G 2.4 GHz.

Well if you guys have a user name and password your routers use to connect to the internet its possible that, by some magic that info was deleted from your routers and needs to be re-entered. on a Linksys go into the basic setup and the 1st thing you see (after having been asked for your routers user name and password) is a little scroll menu, if its set to PPPOE and all the spaces underneath are blank then thats your problem.

I tried that. My network is fine except when I turn on my PS3. The strange thing is I can use the internet with my PS3 but I keep getting logged out in the store or playing a game. I'm sure it's something simple.

When my PS3 is on standby I can see it's wireless broadcast signal on my PC when I view wireless networks :)

It has a password though and I don't know what it is.

It could be a problem with the IP even if the TV is still working. I had a simular problem with my DSL service a while back that the tech found after a few more problems in the neighborhood the piece of equipment finally failed completely.

No itnernet at my house works. Im at a friends now to use his internet cause I have online classes.

Geki I have WPA security on my network. I dont think it uses any login info but Ill check when I get home. My PS3 is wired to my router.

Try reformatting your HDD and resetting your system settings back to default. That will make it like it was when it was brand new. Then you'll know for sure it's not the PS3.
