I just had this happen to my PS3, and I Have mine sitting in an entertainment center, and keep all of my discs in their case. The sound quit while I was playing a multiplayer map in COD4. Chinatown to be exact. It was not my fault, just a faulty PS3.
cod4 was working perfectly fine untill yesterday , it suddenly froze , i restarted it and the system didn´t recognized the disc , i tried out the rest of my games and didn´t work either. this really piss me off
does the warranty work with countries outside US? i ask it cause i bought it in US

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I also have fallen victim to the blu ray flu. I have had my ps3 for 2 months with zero probs, then I pick up COD4 and play it once, and all h3ll breaks loose. Looks like COD4 is the culprit, in my case as well.Ozisfloating

i dont know if any of you guys have experienced this problem but my ps3 is a month and a half old already and i experienced my first problem with it... sadly its not reading my games all of a sudden like frickin out of no where. it was fine last nite then it just stopped reading it... sigh wut the heck... im reformatting it right now as we speak. just trying to gather people's thoughts on this. thanks... plzpassdarice
I'm pretty sure your BD drive is dead. Call Sony and they'll give you a new PS3.
Are all the systems that are faulty the new 40 gb or what? ive had mine since december 0f 06 and no problems. just a frequent freeze on the browser and assasins creed but everything still runs fine.
Hi im on my second PS3 1st one i had(40 GIG) was 8 mouth old. I got prince of persia for xmas played it for a day then had the same problem would not read discs i tried all the games that i had but not one off them loaded so i took my PS3 to the game store and told them what had happend they replaced it with a 80 GIG coz they did,nt sell the 40 GIG anymore so i was will happy i restored my backup from my old one then played the game on the new one and it happned for the second time so im now going to ring Sony tomorrow and see what they say.
hello. my playstation 3 has also just started to freeze when im leaving or joining games on both COD4 and 5, and when it freezes i have to turn it off its that bad. when i turn it back on, it then doesnt read the disks.. some kind of error. i then tried restoring my playstation3 and that didnt work. i have had my playstation for around 18 months now its a 60GB. i have already turned it off fully for along time to cool it down incase of overheating, also i have also blown down the coolers and got the dust out so it can actually vent. please does anyone have any ideas for me before i take it back.
I've opened up a few PS3's before. All i can tell you is that the ribbon cable for the blue ray drive probably unclipped itself. In which case, send it to Sony. Its a fragile process fixing it yourself which resulted in me killing a ps3 so I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.
I played COD 4 and beat the game, when I tried to play online, PS3 had to be updated. Updated to version 3.10... after that, it won't ready any cd's at all.... games, dvd's or blu rays. Sony wants 150.00 to fix. Sony says its a bad cd drive. I say its a bad software issue. Never had a freeze up issue ever prior to this problem. Reformatted, Even waited for new update to come out. 3.15. Still no fix. This Sux
you now u guys could save money by going to people who fix these drive issues for 50 bucks! i bought mine with a faulty one and planning on getting a new drive replaced for 50 bucks the guys gives warranties on all his work sooooo......why not pay 50 bucks for a brandnew drive or go pay 150!!!!!! i will try lens cleaner to see if its just the lens but i think it is the drive tho if that dont work definantly getting it fixed........im sayin this to ppl with no warranties and need it up and running fast. Because what happens to mine i put a dvd or mgs4 and neither read but i get that bubble up in the corner and the internet works and psn does to idk weird :( mine is a 40gig from 2007!!!!! and it boots up great and goes to the menu screen and plays on the internet!!! if anyone has advice pls help
ok. I had the same issue. Sent it in once. Broke again, second time I got a new slim. Was talking to someone last night who said his PS3 fixed itself. he gave it a week and popped a game in.
