Lately I've been having trouble with my PS3 reading games (it reads blue-rays, DVD's, and CD's no problem) but the games doesnt matter if it is brand new it just cant read it, a buddy already told me about getting the fans to automatically trying to get dust out by holding eject while turning it on from the back, and it doesnt work

I've heard smoking in the same room could cause problem with the blue ray lens, but how can i fix this? dont want to pay sony to fix it, and not really wanting to take apart, is therea lens cleaner i can get? any thoughts?

You playing Final Fantasy 13? Some reports say the game is stopping PS3s to read discs.

When the lens goes out, it will often still play DVDs and CDs but not blu-rays and games. I've never heard of a PS3 reading Blu-rays but not games, that doesn't make sense.

Try this, it may fix it.

I can barely tell anymore if the PS3 issues being reported are rumors or real plausible cases. My guess is that it's probably easier to break the Blu-ray drives because they are more advanced tech than the old DVD drives we're used to. But people have the tendency to blame a game for them coincidentally having there system conk out while playing it.

When my PS3 couldn't read games anymore it also couldn't read blu-rays and CDs. Long story short it cost me 150$ to get it fixed.

Hopefully you don't have to get that fixed.

God of War corrupted my data and wouldn't load. So I called Sony and they walked me through a fix.

1) Restore your PS3 to deafault settings under SYSTEM SETTINGS

2) Hold down the power button for several seconds until the light goes from red to green to red. Once it turns back to red, let go.

3) Finally, Hold down the power button again untill you hear 2 quick beeps... a few seconds. This will repair any damaged sectors in your HD.

Not sure if that will fix your issues, but it worked for me when God of War III wouldn't load. Good luck!
