so i was thinking of buying a playstation 3 in april to get GTAIV and the MGO beta(was also thinking about picking up rock band and uncharted) i was looking on ebay for a 20 GB version (why spend 400 dollars on a system for 2-4 games right?) anyway to my understanding the 20gb version does not have wifi capabilities i was wondering if i could plug the ethernet cable from the PS3 into my mac mini in my room (it has an airport card in it) and still get online via wifi?

any info on the 20gig PS3 and my online question would be greatly appreciated.

It should work once you enable internet connection sharing on the mac. It can be done this way on the PC so no reason why not.

I would suggest picking up a larger hard drive if you do find a 20 GB system (good luck with that, they've been discontinued for a whhile now) as it will fill up quick if you hit a couple of games with big mandatory installs.

Woo a Mac owner! Haha, yeah you can. You gotta enable "internet sharing" between your airpot and your ethernet port on your Mac. I use this with my PS2 all the time.

Oh, and depending on your Mac Mini you may have to have a crossover cable (not just a normal ethernet cable) to do this. :)

Seeing that the 20 gig has been off the market almost as quick as it was released it may be easier to find a 60 gig SKU, although now that it has been discontinued for a while and it was popular with many people it could cost just about as much as it did when it was released when you find one now.

As for the Mac mini question I don't know anything about the system but if it works out this would be sweet, seeing that everything online seems to work via a Mac address anyway.

Macs do auto switching, so a cross over cable wouldn't be required on the Macs end... this may not be true of the PS3 though. /me hugs his Macs!

I suggest buying a 60gb or 80gb PS3. Only if you want to play PS2 games as a bonus.

If not, then just buy the 40gb.

Only intel Macs and a few PPC do auto switching. Thats why I said that.
