I like PC gaming, but the thing is that it's pretty expensive to game on a PC, with constant upgrading and all that. a single 8800 GTX costs more than a PS3 and with it all said and done my new computer will cost more than 3 times that of a PC. So my question would be, should i go for a PS3 and play MGS4 till my eyes bleed and smile at my fatter wallet, or pay to play what seems to be a much better game library on the PC?

i say right now, you get a PS3, since the ever expanding game library is growing this holiday season, and yes, with MGS 4. but, then save every bit of money you make for a good computer. thats what im doing this very second :D

Honestly man, it's a games to money ratio. I personally think that the consoles have a more solid, abundant lineup than PCs. but there are some stellar PC games coming out. It just depends on what games you want to play, and if PC games are more your style then spend the cash.

I'd personally get a PS3 if I were you because there are some great games coming out, it's cheaper and it's a blu ray player as well. I think if you have an HDTV then that sides in favor of the PS3 as well.

Also, there isn't really that much in tmers of games for PCs at the moment and the DX10 cards are just starting to mature and Vista isn't all that it should be yet, so at this stage PC gaming can wait. If you can hold off 6 months to a year then you will know what games like Crysis really need to run, Vista may/will be better and PC parts may even be cheaper. And in the mean time you have some sweet PS3 games to play.

Why stop there?... I game on PC, PS3, the little white console and the red ring console and love playing on each platform for different reasons. You're talking aboot upgrades indicating that you already own a PC, I say get the PS3 and save up and upgrade the PC piece by piece.

Price is the issue here, so both are out of the question.

I'm also thinking of the long term, as i dont like buying new hardware every 2 years to keep up, but then again games on my PS2 look like butt now, so with the PC ill atleast have the opportunity to upgrade, instead of settling for a PS3 that wont look so good in 3-5 years

Linux is nothing like Windows.  Also running Linux on a console where it doesn't support 3D or have access to more than 256 MB of RAM is nothing like running it on a cheap computer which doesn't have either of these issues.

Obviously you don't have the funds to do both as that is what I'd do personally, so if having to pick 1 at the moment, a PS3 is the better buy with all the new software close to coming out and at which point, the computer cards and accessories to build (quad core) will be dropping very soon (6600 quad core already 299) so your much better off waiting on the computer.

Well i think ive decided to go with a PS3 and some PC upgrades, for about $1000. Right now my PC is unstable due to excessive heat and not enough power from PSU, so that has to be addressed. To add in a new CPU and GPU for more than the cost of a PS3 that will have half the life span seems stoopid, and one more plus, MGS4!
