I'm going to have my PS3 in a stand when I get it in the mail, the sides of the PS3 will get enough air, but the back of the PS3 is what I'm worried about. The TV stand is close to five inches away from the wall in my room and I don't know if the PS3 will get enough ventilation.

I read, leaving it in a vertical position actually makes it over heat, but if I do leave it in a vertical position, I'll have to buy the Hori stand or something.

They dont over or break. Break down rate is 0.06 percent. In comparison the 360s rate "if you have to know" 30.0 percent lol.

ive talked to people at gamestop and putting it in a vertical postion is actually not good for your ps3. just make sure you have it on a stand a couple inches away from the tv and it wont overheat, mine never has.

the stand is critical because if it is just sitting on the carpet it'll overheat

Actually, my PS3 is in a horizontal position, on a rug (well...sort of. it's like a giant placemat.), and right next to my TV...and it hasnt overheated. No problems whatsoever.

Put it horizontal and hook up a laptop cooler. Even the USB ports turn on the laptop cooler's fans. It's perfect. It's in mid air with fans under it self powered.

no, dont worry it will be fine. make sure if the cabnent has a door open it when in use. as long as there is no defect and you use it as you discribed it should be ok. Unless you live in a very hot area and you dont have a AC you wont need a cooler unit.

you don't need a stand to set it up vertically. i've had mine since launch, and have had it vertically or horizontally depending on what room it's in and have had no problems either way.

I just felt more secure with one, because I know where I put it, it would most likly fall down. Not only that, my plain were if I did set the PS3 vertical I would buy a Hori led stand.

i bought dead space yesterday and my stupid ps3 started overheating, and shutting off, it's really pissing me off, cause i can't play my new game, but when i do anything else with it the console works fine i don't know, probably just have to curse out sony or sonmething, this better be right when resistance comes out or ima go crazy spree
