Just asking, does the PS3 play DVDs in fairly good quality? Ive got a PS3. Im just asking though. Writing this from my new 80gb PS3!

I think it does great upconversion. I have a Samsung dvd player that does upconversion and the PS3 does a better job.

upconversion is far from HD quality, really it only makes the DVD signal, which wasn't created for HDTVs, looking good on a HDTV, not so much better than that

most new HDTVs do a better upconversion than the upconverters you'll find in shops (my SAMSUNG does a great job, but watching any Blu-ray makes it sad)

to me, sitting back, when i play retail dvds on my ps3 they look almost like blu ray picture. I love it, always use it as my dvd player.
