OKAY... Hi I am from Australia and I have the 80gig (I think) version PS3 from my local game store. The warranty ran off about a week ago and then yesterday it all broke. I have never had a problem before and I've had it for just over a year, I play often. Leading up to the problems. I was playing NBA 2k10 when my brother and his girlfriend came over and wanted to watch a movie on my ps3. I decided(after long concideration) that I would lend it to them(which I didn't want to do.) I took the game out while it was still running(by pressing the eject button), then put in the movie to see if it would work. It worked, but they wanted to watch it in the other room on the other tv. I turned the PS3 off using the switch on the back and carried it into the other room. I plugged the cords into the tv and plugged the power cord in. My brother annoyed me so I decided to be smart and not change it to normal video from HDMI. I think he may have played with the PS3 to try and change it to normal video. He could have pressed all the buttons on the console or switched it on and off a few times using the back switch. After a while I decided to change it for him, I turned it on at the back and held the power button to reset the video settings. I put it onto AV and went under the video section in PS3 menu. The dvd wasn't displayed anymore, so I tried to eject it. The button didn't eject the dvd, didn't beep and well... it did nothing. After alot of trying I gave up for the night and googled and youtubed lots of stuff. I learned about the force eject etc. I made this account and I couldn't post yet so I just went to bed. Got up today and tried again, still nothing. I went into some menu(by holding the power button until I heard 2 beeps in a row). In this menu I select something to fix corrupt files, my PS3 found corrupt files and fixed them. STILL NOTHING. I opened the menu again and did the corrupt file thing again. STILL CORRUPT FILES. Fixed... STILL NOTHING. I then went into the menu and reformatted the PS3, I lost all my saves and it still didnt work. I gave up. Tried later and it just... ejected. I WAS SO HAPPY THAT IT WASN'T FUNNY! I ran and got NBA2k10 and put it in, it went in and worked. I just turned off the PS3 because I couldn't be bothered playing. Later on I felt like playing and decided I would. I went to play and it wouldn't load, it wouldnt eject(just the beep, beep, beep). I tried force ejecting it and it didnt work! I think the disc is stuck in there like its been taken in and moved somewhere its not supposed to be. I really want it fixed.

Never heard of anything like this. For one I think the problem came from unproper turning on and off the console. The back button is not meant for turning the system on and off, it is a main power switch. From now on, if you are in a game and want to eject, quit the game first. Then eject. Then turn off the console. If you are playing and just want to turn off the console. Hold down the PS button and turn off console. Do things the right way. I never touch the back switch. You may have to send it in to Sony. This doesnt seem like a common problem.

First of all Call Sony

Where the red/green light is what colour is it. If its yellow your screwed.

Do you hear beeps when pressing the power or eject button on the PS3 because the heat sensor may be broken.

The lights r green n blue. Its all fine, but I think the disc is too high or low or too far in or what ever. Something like that has happened and I don't have a clue why. If I call sony they will tell me to send it in for repair and I don't even have enough money to get other people xmas presents and sony will want me to give them money lol.
