PS3 Router Recommendations

So I finally got my PS3 last week along with a couple of games to start with.

Now I'm looking to get a router so I can actually sign on to PSN and play online.

I've had my eye on a particular D-Link router, it looks good and it's also on sale...

It's a D-LINK DIR-615 4-PORT WIRELESS N ROUTER–802.11N

The original price was $79.99 CAD and it's been marked down to $49.99 CAD

I want to make sure it`s a good choice, however, so that is where you good people come in.

• Is this particular model a good choice? Or not?
• What kind of routers do you guys have?
• What have your experiences been with your routers?

Wireless or Wired?

If you're running wirelessly, don't get a N type router, because the Wifi in the PS3 doesn't connect perfectly to it, unless you get a Wireless-N gaming bridge, but that's more money. Get a Wireless G router if you're going to run wirelessly ..

Wired, get any D-Link router you like ..

Do not buy a D-link router. I bought one a few years ago for around 150 bucks and i have spent the last year and a half trying to get things right on my ps3 come to find out it was the router. i then went to walmart and bought a netgear for 39.99 and all my problems are solved.railroberto2007

To answer the question on wheather I want to go wireless or wired, I would prefer a wireless connection.

I got the Linksys Gigabit gaming router which is 802.11 N and it is great and very very fast.hiryu3

I have some motorrola router (wireless)

I use it wired though because there is a password on it...lol

and the connection works great

The router won't be far from my PS3...no more than 6 feet away in the same room actually.

I suppose that makes the N work fine. Will still take a peek at what G routers are available at my store via their site and compare before I go shopping tonight.

Six feet .. you should be fine with the Wireless-N then, but really don't need to spend the money for it, unless you're going to run a couple things off of it .. ie Laptop, PS3, Computer another console ..

I did a TON of research (I think too much) when looking into buying a good router .. I bought the Wireless N because of the distance between my router and PS3 .. router was upstairs, PS3 downstairs, walls and floors in the way, also bought a gaming bridge .. I have a great connection .. just my ISP isn't that good .. :P

What I'm saying is go buy a router, any router will work, and any router can break, they are sensitive .. they can be broken without even knowing they are, or what you did to break it .. don't look to far into it, there are many good routers out there, but even the good ones, or the expensive ones can break or be faulty .. ;)

Wow, that is quite a lot of obstacles for your connection :lol:

Looks Like I'll be safe with this router in that case, and the price is definitly right.

The only things I really need connected are my PC, PS3, and PSP. Also, my ISP gives me a really reliable, fast connection, I've never had any ISP problems whatsoever.

I tend to over-research things too XD Just want to be safe rather than sorry.
