PS3 Stuck on a loop help!!!!

Kay my PS3 is 250gb or whatever *Dunno if that matters*

And i wanted to play Assassins Creed 2and it said i need to do a system upgrade or whatever.

Well while it was upgrading It stopped a 50% and said there was an error it then said it would restart and repeat the process.

Well its been on a loop for an hour repeating and not increase WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!?

It was a christmas present.
