PS3 Updates are largely pointless to a gamer and im getting damn well fed up.

Honestly why dose this additional data prevent the average GAMEPLAYER from going online and playing his PS3. Im at a loss why these largekly pointless updates should affect our abbility to go online in general. Surely versions to not matter when it comes to playing Demons Souls or CODMW2 online do they?

Your being silly now. No the communication devices are a direct link to gaming and if that 10% included that download thats great. But yeah movies why do i need to update to watch movies? I should only have todo that if i want to not be forced to update. jwsoul

Sony linked Facebook to gaming and that is why it is included in this update. Netflix is just a really nice perk for the majority of PS3 owners that use the service. Typically with all these updates, they are improving things directly related to gaming. Yes it would be nice if they allowed you to pick and choose which updates you want but that would just cause issues for tech support because everyone's dashboard would be different.

Sony markets the PS3 as an "all-in-one" entertainment centre. Hence the tagline: it only does everything.

The average gamer might not care about things like facebook, but you aren't being forced to use it. Also, those updates fix various issues that aren't usually documented. Notice how the friends list looks better now?

If you have problems going online with MW2, you can blame Infinity Ward for that. Not Sony.

Here's a tissue pal. Who really cares if you don't care for facebook or reorganized pictures, somepeople might want those. If you don't like them don't use them its that simple.

well id say get a 360 but seeing as i does the same thing with facebook and im sure nintendo is gonna do the same thing sooner or later...get a last get system where you dont have to deal with it. or get a pc...or stop bit%%ing about it...or sue em like that one guy.

yea all i want is cross game chat, so when im playing my rpgs such as Demon souls or Dragon AGe, i wont feel alone haha.

I think the thread starter is just alittle pissed as I am about it being 3 years after its launch and the updates for the most part are minimal. it took forever to get a working ingame xmb and other minor options that should have been added in at launch.....

3 years later and we have 10-15 classics while other consoles have hundreds.....

No ingame chat, No univeral in game music....these are day 1 options

No you get an addon like Adblock or something, and the Xbox 360 get's updates too so your point is invalid, you pay for Xbox but you'll still have to download updates to go online just as much as PSN.
