Hi I would really appreciate help setting up my sons PS3 to work via WIFI withmy router. The router is Netgear DG834GSP v3 and is running firmware version 1.02.04 which seems to be up to date. I can get my PC, laptop, PSP an 3 ipod Touch's to communicate via Wifi but the PS3 refuses to connect. (No - we are not trying to get these all online simultaneously!) We have tried all setting combinations but the only way to connect through to the web seems to be to switch off the security, which I don't want to do. My son is desparate to cnnect out the gaming community. Anyone on here got any ideas ? All suggestions gratefully received, thanks

You might need to put the PS3 in a DMZ that allows the PS3 to connect without using any security. I have my D-Link DIR-655 configured this way and it works great at blocking any unwanted information coming to any PC on the network and allows my PS3 to connect without a problem. You don't have worry about any viruses or hackers getting into the PS3's OS.

Just throw your PS3 into DMZ.

Better yet, don't use WiFi, plug it it, makes online play smoother.

Thanks for the suggestion - building configuration disallows that option.

The quick and dirty is to give your PS3 a static IP in Network Settings. Then head over to your router and go to "Main Menu, under Advanced, click the WAN Setup link" (according to the manual for your router) and check the box for DMZ Server then plug in your PS3's static IP.
