In the Meantime...
... I'm leaving the PS3 Forum for awhile (let the celebrations begin), I'm tired of seeing this endlessly pontificated on. We have no idea what's ACTUALLY happened, because Sony won't say. And - We can't make our own conclusions, folks. My initial reaction last night was to get angry (again) about stuff I don't have the facts on, and to begin pointing fingers...
... The truth is, though, that I just don't care anymore. I don't care who's behind the crash, I don't care what Sony intends to do about it, and I wash my hands of the entire business because there's nothing I can personally do about any of it. I placed calls to a friend who has connections in the computer security field, and who has a pretty "high-ranking" hacker friend (who doesn't waste time with video game consoles, this person is much more interested in human rights violations around the world and the computer security of some truly BAD people, and how changing things for oppressed free-speechers etc. might change their lot in life) who had zero insight into the matter at hand, or who was ultimately to blame.
We're chasing shadows, and fueling a witch hunt. Historically, such actions have rarely, if ever, yielded positive results or change for the better.
So I'm dusting off my older systems, returning to the gaming land before Internets became so integral to the experience. I would advise that most of you do the same... I think that posts about SP modes, and finishing games on harder difficulties, have an excellent outlook and should be commended for their viewpoint.
Talking about the hackers, whether they are responsible for the current state of things or not, only gives them the power they so desire.
