[QUOTE="Akira345"] I just found some info from an article about the actual 'psp 2'. I will try to translate the article as accurate as possible:
Sony is working on new game storage (no more umd) which will be impossible to copy. The processor will be new generation with less energy consumption 45hm technology and double the power ofhis older brother- the current psp slim. There will be no more memory card slot which will 'reduce the risk of hacking the system'(statementby Sony), but there will be built-in 250 GB memory. The weight of the new psp will be approximately 105 grams, because the umd reader will be gone. The battery will be new generation with 'silicon hairs' and power of 4000 mAh, which will feature 2 days of non-stop playing. Sony is saying that the new psp will be revolution in the gaming industry and will feature incredible realism of gameplay. The system is supposed to be relieced in 2009 at starting price of 700$.
So..yeah...psp - 2005, psp slim - 2007, 'psp 2' - 2009! It sounds logical!
But tell me, what do you think guys?

There are so many things wrong with that, I'm not too sure where to begin. First of all.... I think it's very obvious that Sony is going to make a PSP 2. I also believe that it will most likely come out in 2009 or perhaps as late as 2010. However, 700$ (Which is currently a little over $1,000 USD) is complete BS. One of the biggest reasons why the PSP had such a slow start was because of the original price point. Selling a handheld gaming device for $250 (or was it $300? can't remember) seemed like insanity on Sonys part. I believe now that Sony has made a decent claim in the handheld market and has proven that it's worth the extra cash compared to Nintendos products, people may be willing to shell out a little extra. However that doesn't mean Sony charge whatever the hell they want. It wouldn't matter if the PSP2 has a quad core processecor with 4GB of ram and a 8800GT 768MB video card in there w/ 1TB HDD...Even if it were more powerful than the PS3 or X-Box 360, It will be doomed to fail at $1000. The most the PSP2 will sell for is $300 USD, period.
As far as a new storage medium.... I don't believe Sony is done with the UMD format yet. I'm guessing they'll have a "UMD2" drive which may be even smaller with a higher storage capacity. If not, there's no way for them to distribute games on the retail market. Sure there could be digital distrubtion, but that's an extremely new concept for console gamers and would be way too risky for Sony to take. Some people still don't have access to broadband internet, let alone have wireless routers to connect their PSPs to. I do believe it will have a built in HDD, 250GB is a little high but 60GB sounds very doable.
A battery with 2 days of non-stop play time? Not going to happen. I could see up to 12hrs, beyond that just wouldn't be cost effective. The PSP is designed to be a handheld gaming device for people "on the go".... It's not designed to be played for 12+ hrs at a time as a regular console might be.
I also don't believe Sony is very interested in stoppin the PSP from being *hacked*. I believe this was obvious since the release of the PSP Slim, which didn't seem to take any measures from stopping custom firmware being installed on it. Like it or not, Sony knows that the homebrew market is very large and has been a major selling point for them. Either way Sony knows that no console is *safe* from hacking....If anythin else a mod chip will be developed for the PSP2, so why even try?
Anyways I think the PSP2 is going to be a pretty amazing piece of hardware, just not quite as amazing as all of this speculation makes people believe. As I said earlier I believe end of 2009 seems very possible right now. I'd say the PSP2 will probably be a little more powerful than the original X-Box. I'm willing to bet Sony will also start offering PS2 titles to play played on it through the Sony store just as their doing with PS1 titles now. Having the PS2 library of games alone would make it worth getting.
Just my 2cents. :)
is like u just read my mind... amazing!
