The timing seems about right, w/ the ps3 being done and all...

but it sounds like bs to me, I wouldn't expect a new handheld out for a while, not for at least 3 to 4 years. I think that only the recent games, possibly within the last 3 to 6 months have really scratched the surface on what the psp can do. I expect more great things out of the system we have already before they try for another.

The PSP is losing to the DS everywhere, buddy, especially in Japan, a.k.a DS Land. Just wanted to clarify.

I just don't see a 250GB, $700 handheld anytime soon...but I don't know, Sony does some crazy stuff sometimes. I don't even know if I want a PSP 2; I'm just planning a Slim purchase. Hopefully a PSP2 isn't announced like a day after I buy my slim :(

Just because a system sells more then another does not mean its dead. All that should matter is if they are making a profit on the psp, and not loosing money. Which they are, and sales have skyrocketed more then 57% growth since the slim, not to mention since GOW and FF:CC. They are two different markets, the ds caters to rugrats kids under 13, as my 2 nephews have both, but always play the ds, because its cheap, the games are cheap, and the graphics are kid centric, the games target little kids. And if you think about it how many parents and grandparaents are willing to dish out $100 to get their scamps out of their hair for an hour or so? A lot! They are the reason that the ds sells more, nothing else.

-Its not the gameplay! The DS games suck! and are small and graphically inferior to a super nintendo!

-Its not the graphics, supernintendo gfx, small screens, and its not multiplayer

-It is kid based games and easy accessable controls so kids don't have to think, and just wave a stick around, which any retart or 5 year old can do!

PSP is targeted at teens and adults! Finally a portable targeting me! I am 29 and would never buy a ds! If I wanted ds graphic games, i have hundreds on my sony ericson phone. The psp has a great library of games for hardcore gamers, not children! These are two distinct markets and can and will live simultaneously, as nintendo doesn't market for hardcore older gamers at all! They target kids and casuals. (ie kids and their soccor moms) I live in an apartment with my girl, we have one tv...the psp is the perfect device for my needs, as she hogs the tv, I have my gaming rig pc, and my psp for all my gaming needs, neither requires the tv and it is great! Their is a demand for hardcore teen/mature games! The original gamer generation is aging. We are now in our 20's, 30's and some in their 40's... Sony is taking care of us, and I am glad they are!

Besides, the moment I saw the $700 price tag, I knew it HAD to be fake.

No backwards compatibilty? They wouldn't do that, they pay attention to Nintendo.

I doubt it will cost $700. It will probably be more like $300-$400 max.

EDIT: It will include BC and probably use some other sort of media disc. And oh yewah this is fake no offense.

This just in; Microsoft is planning it's Xbox360-P with 500 gigs of memory, and it'll be $1000. It'll be shaped like a mini-Master Chief helmet.

The weight of the new psp will be approximately 105 grams, because the umd reader will be gone.The battery will be new generation with 'silicon hairs' and power of 4000 mAh, which will feature 2 days of non-stop playing. Sony is saying that the new psp will be revolution in the gaming industry and will feature incredible realism of gameplay. The system is supposed to be relieced in 2009 at starting price of 700$.

$700 dollars? No way. No one would buy it, no one would even care to use it. I definately wouldn't. They are already having problems with the high price of PS3 and with the recession and economic downturn it would NOT work work at all. Its a horrible marketing idea. I DOUBT they are that stupid.
