I thought Sony made it pretty clear that the Go wasn't marketed to people who already had a PSP. They also said they would continue to support UMD and sell the systems side-by-side. If you don't like the idea of a more compact design and downloadable games, don't get one. The whole point of the system is greater portability and on-demand game purchases. It fits in your pocket easier, and you don't have to carry arround UMD's. I know they aren't big, but it doesn't matter if I'm carrying 1 or 20 games with me, it occupies the same space in my pocket. I'm not actually buying one right now as I just got a 3000 last year, but I wish I wouldn't have because I'd love to have one.

Whatever gets you off pal. Think whatever you wish. I know what I saw too, and I know what I remember. You don't...and stop trying to argue with me. You could easily be making up what you said and supposedly be as wrong as me. I have no proof that it costed $40 last week. Where is yours?

Most people hate the idea of an all digital handheld, specifically after the older PSPs, because with a big enough memory stick there's no reason why you can't just download games to an older PSP. That and because the only means of putting games on the Go is through the PlayStation store, a lot of consumers believe that Sony can essentially monopolize the Go and make the game prices as high as they want, essentially forcing the consumer to pay that price. Add to that the $250 price tag, and the inability to buy cheap, used UMD games (referring back to the PlayStation store). Finally, some people are just pissed that it's not the PSP 2 and doesn't have a second analog stick. I hope that answers your question. :P

biscuits3

that pretty much says it all. I'll just add that I believe Sony made the go out of PURE greed. It wont make gaming any better for US , it just makes THEM more money. Consumers shouldn't welcome the go so much, it's a smaller screen, fewer games, and more expensive....

i read alot of bad things from online proffesional reviews.

Like its price is hefty. The mini games are expensive.

Too small for people with normal to large hands.

The PSP 1000-3000 can do just about the samethings.

Pretty sure alot of people are pissed that they can smell Sony bullShiiit. Hey look at our cool new thing. No its the same thing, but smaller and way more expensive.

Other people are comparing it to an iPhone, and wondering why not just get an iPhone.

I agree with both.

I wouldnt exchange it for my PSP 2000 for no extra charge.

Only thing i want is that it may offer crispy less jaggy graphics.

It's the price. That's really about it. When you can get a freaking PS3 for $50 more, than you got a problem. So is it worth it? No, of course not. I don't think anyone thinks the PSP Go sucks. I sure don't. I think it looks pretty cool! But it's not worth getting for $250! That's why it sucks. Every review I read all say it's tough to recommend because of the price.

I think these are the reasons why people in general doesn't like it:

1) Price: Way too high, I think all handhelds (and relative games too) should cost no more than 150€ (20€ for games). Why? Well because they offer less than a normal console (ps3,360,wii), the graphic is cool but dated and games are usually "shrinked", the offer less entertainment than a bigger game.

2) Evolution: Is, in fact, a "de-evolution". They just made a new dress for their product so they can keep the price high, giving you less. (no umds)

3) Customer care: Hey...they just tossed a tuna in your face. I bought like 10 psp games, and now? did you forget about me? What do I do with all those games? Do you want them back perhaps? what? NO? So i'm not gonna buy your new toy.

These are the reasons why I don't like it (other than the above ones ofc):

1) You say it's a portable thingie, really nice, well designed, bluetooth and all, just put a damn sim slot inside so we can use it as a cellphone, that will make it really yummy to me. Otherwise is just a shrinked version of my psp slim and you can keep it for yourself.

2) Whenever I give money for goods I want to have them in my hands, touch them, use them, collect them. Giving 30$ for a digital game is a big no no for me. Same way it works for music. Hell i love buying records with artworks and booklets and so on. Since you don't have any distribution costs I want to pay a full game no more than 10 dollars. and the old ones must be at 5$. (that's the same amount of money they do on physical media, probably they make even less).

3) Keeping it related to games: It should have been a completely new system, advanced one. Bigger and better games, better graphics. It's not so it's not worth changing device.

I was simply stating what I saw. I wawas not trying to misleased anyone. If you don't believe that, great. So what. Why don't go back and read everything that I already said. It's not complicated stuff. You have as much proof as me. I never accused you of lying. I accused you of possibbly not paying attention to what you saw when you got your PSP Go. So why don't we just leave it at this. Move on and argue with someone else now if your so desparate to be right about something because you won't be able to change what I saw (right or wrong). Let it go and leave me alone. I still stand behind my first post here. Go and annoy someone else.

Sony announced on February 3, 2005, that the PSP would go on sale in North America on March 24, 2005 in one configuration for a MSRP of US$249/CA$299. Apparently people are going to complain no matter what..... I have one, paid $250 for it and love it. I had no problem paying $250 for the original or $299 for a 16gb iPod touch either. Of course you can get a PS3 for $50 more. Or a Wii for $50 less....or a PS2 for half.....or an Xbox 360 for $80 less.....or...... I thought it was going to suck and it was ugly when I first saw pics and videos of it. Owning it proved me wrong....

End fact is that the psp go is far far too expensive argue all you want, for me the PSP 3000 is small enough, I enjoy having physical copies rather then something that looks like its come from CFW which is a reason why I never done it I just like the cover arts etc.

Secondly, when you say its cheap for a digital console, no it is far from it, something thats digital should be cheaper then something with a drive, maybe not if its got 64+gb of memory, but we are only talking 16gb here, you can pick up a SD card with that much for 50au here, then theres the issue that sony will play it how ever they want, and I beleive that, look at the PSN store, the only things that ever come on special is the garbage barely anyone has a thought of buying, something like Gran turismo or Ressistance will never ever come to special, wouldnt I rather pick up a copy from the shop for 49au over paying sony 59 ;), I just dont see it worth.

I guess DS/DSi owners should have stuck with their GBA's then. I can pick up used GBA games for $4 at garage sales and 2nd hand stores. Who needs something new anyway. Heck, those DSi consoles are $40 more than the DS Lite and all you get is a dumb camera.....what was Nintendo thinking anyway. The GBA was $99 to $129 and Nintedo has the audacity to charge $169 for a new console now??? And the stupid DSi doesn't even support GBA games....I would never buy one of those dumb consoles..... Seriously though the first garbage game I bought was Final Fantasy VII...for $9.99. Oh and it plays on my PS3 as well......I didn't even pay the fanboy price of $50 for it. The disk will never scratch, it will also play on my 1000 and 2000 model PSPs as well.....for no extra charge..... But still, the PSP Go really sucks. Don't ever buy one.

I still consider the DSI to be within resonable question, heck, I would consider the PSP go as long as it had some type of method of converting the games from UMD to Digital, it would have been so simple, the less stores that sell the PSP go, the merrier I will be maybe then sony will think of something to convert the games which is when I would buy it, until then I see even less point of it here in Australia, here there is no such thing as unlimited broadband, I have 20gb a month in terms of downloads, which costs 80au a month, I really dont need to pay 60 for a game then waste 1-2gb of my downloads just another problem with the go.

The the topic creator you seem very anxious to replies you respond within 5 seconds with some one worded thing, bit worried with the cost of the Go or something?, havent seen anyone in this thread who would say they would buy one at this current price.

I sold my PSP 1000 YEARS ago, so using my old library of UMD games is not a problem, because I have none, and PSP Go being strictly DD is not a problem either, because I LOVE the idea of it being strictly DD.

With that being said, I will NOT be buying the PSP Go, and here is why:

1) No Trophies. I admit it, I am a trophy whore. And for the people who may say "you should play games for fun", who says I do not? Besides, I can have PLENTY of FUN, along with said trophies (and achievements) with my PS3 (and Xbox 360).

2) Just not a fan of handhelds. I am not on the go (no pun intended) enough to justify it, and in general, I HATE the computability level (or lack thereof) with handhelds.

I got my psp go because I was tired of my psp 1k carrying around the stupid plastic umds only to have them crack or break. So I sold them all and got a go. It is stupidly expensive but it is a very well put together machine and the 16 gigabytes and no motion blur. Most of all it is small and portable I never used to like bringing my psp 1k with me just too big.

The idea of repurchasing all my games which I have on UMD on top of paying something like 250 to 300 AUD for... Rack off! With a PSP 3000, a GoCam and stack of games majority on UMD. I'm more interested in Aussie PSN Cards than a stupid PSG! Here in Australia. Both are currently a no-show!

I don't even know one (not even a regular PSP) and I love it. I've been YouTubing it so much, haha. I love the whole downloading idea. I'd rather have a "format-less" console to travel around with. No UMD collection case to carry around.

It looks sick, too. I love the white one.

I don't have one but I don't hate it though. It looks cute. But It lacks a UMD drive, it has a smaller screen , you can't find a cheaper price for games like you do with UMDs, and it has a STEEP price. Those are the reasons I don't want one. And it doesn't even have a device where you can copy your old UMD games to the HDD. But I'm happy with my 3000 though.

It seems like everybody is saying its too expensive and you cant transfer UMDs. What if you could transfer UMD's would you buy it?

mok27
You can't, so there is no point playing that "if" game. And the fact remains that the original models cost less, has a bigger viewing area, a removable battery, and can play the same DL'ed content that the Go can play. With all the same benefits of not needing to carry UMD"s around, or the longer load times, and better battery life, if you choose to go the PSN monopolistic download route. Which all happen to be the main reasons, I keep hearing from Go pushers of what makes the Go, so great over the 2000/3000 models. As if, the older models aren't capable of taking advantage of the same benefits that the Go is *forced* into taking.

I don't think it is 'bad' but I already have a PSP 3000, and the fact that the Go! slides up, doesn't really appeal to me. And most importantly, the fact that I have to pay online to buy games, makes it an inconvenience for me, since I try to avoid buying things online. However, I know many friends who very often buy games online, so it'll suit them. But the Go! is not for me.

I think the PSP Go is more comfortable

Exactly. Any reviewer that says the Go is bad for someone with large hands clearly doesn't have large hands. I've got long fingers and trying to hold my PSP 2000 in a comfortable way (for long gaming sessions) results in my thumb being cramped up in five short minutes, with 30 minutes being my max playtime. I've played the Go for hours and never once felt discomfort. Another thing that actually makes the Go nicer is the raised screen. When I lay on my bed (with my head/heck propped up against the headboard, not looking at the ceiling) and comfortable lay my arms at my sides except to hold the PSP over my chest/stomach, having a raised screen actually makes it easier to see, as I don't have to look so far downward. It's nothing I'd encourage people to run out and buy a Go over, but it's something I've noticed. Actually, I really wish the Go had come out years ago. Using a PS3 controller and TV-out makes it a portable and a home console in one. I can log in some serious hours at home and then continue my progress on the road. Playing with older PSPs always left me with the feeling of, "Why are you playing on this tiny screen at home when you have a PS3/PC and a nice big monitor to use?" That always limited my gaming time, and as such, purchases, with my PSP and made it sort of unnecessary.

I'm new to the PSP scene (I have no UMD's to start with), but the GO just doesn't appeal to me as much as a 3000 does. Here's a list of the reasons why I don't want a GO versus the 3000:

1. Price- This has to be the biggest reason whyalot ofpeople don't buy a GO. 250 dollars seems like too much money for something that does less than its counterpart, which costs less. I'd rather get a 3000 bundle and a couple memory sticks for less than the GO.

2. Functionality- I alluded to this in the last point. Why would I buy the GO that can only play download games over a 3000 which can play both UMDs and downloads? I know the GO comes with the 16 gig internal memory, but it's not worth the extra 70 dollars to get it.

3. Purchasing games- Another big point here. With the GO, I can only get games via the PSN, and there's no shopping around for a cheaper price. I'd rather buy a used UMD copy of a game than have to pay full price for it on the PSN.

4. Portability- Ok, this is the main selling point for the PSP GO in my mind. The GO is, what, 40% smaller? To be honest, I don't particularly care about the size of a handheld console, as long as it's not a stupidly-oversized monster. This being said, I don't think the 3000 is that big anyway. It's not worth the extra money to get the smaller GO, especially whenit comes at the expense of losing the competitively priced UMD gaming format. Yeah, it's a nice thing about the GO, but just not worth it to me. It's not like the DSi (don't start with the system wars flaming here) which gets smaller because of losing backwards compatibility with the preious generation of games (and adds downloadable games that can't be played on DS lite, unlike the GO). The GO loses compatibility with games from the same generation. That just seems like a bad idea...

So overall, I think I'd rather stick with the 3000 over the GO right now. (Probably going to get a 3000 in a few weeks)

Because it doesn't have any discernable benefit over the regular, cheaper PSP.

OK, sure it doesn't use UMDs. But you can get digital PSP games on the regular PSP, too. So why spend more money to get a PSP go, when you can have the option of DD or hard copies of your games, and spend less on the system its self.

Mainly because of the huge price tag and the fact that you can't play your old UMD games.

I'm sure many people would have bought it if they could trade in their old PSP's but they can't as they won't be able to play their old games.

1. Do research 2. Figure out Go sucks 3. Use $250 for 3000 and 16gb Pro Duo 4. Laugh at Go users

Yeah but PSP go is much smaller and is exactly 43% smaller so it is better in that way. You dont have to carry around games which is a plus. Umm More games will be added (Better Games then what it has now)

1. Better games aren't out yet, so you can't use that. And it will never have a complete library. 2. Smaller yes. But that means more cramped layout, and a smaller screen, too. 3. You don't have to carry around games with a different model either. Leave one in the system, use all your digital games that Go users can get too.

I made a gamble with the Go and sort of lost. I just cant play games, above all THIS IS THE REALL ISSUE; I simply dont have games or the DD's are over priced..... Sony PROMISED to have an amazing PSN release with the Go and it was mediocreat best... I did lots of research but still put my faith into Sony because I am a loyal gamer.... Well, maybe no so much anymore.
