After even just 15 minutes of playing the memory stick heats up, is this normal? And also, when there is a disc in, and a game is loading, it makes some whirring noises.

That doesn't sound normal at all. I've never heard the PSP memory stick heating, but the noises in the UMD drive lead a recent PSP to a dead drive.

well it's not necessarily the memory stick heating up its just the outer shell around that area that gets warm and it makes my hand itchy, and I have a PSP-1000.

It's probably close to dying out on you i think. But im not sure, I never experienced the heat problem you had but I do know that noises coming from the drive and slow UMD load times usually lead to a dying disc drive.

Load times aren't slow, and I saw a video on Youtube where a guy's laser is moving around when the game is loading and its making the same noises mine do, but he didn't say it was a problem in the video title or description so I think it might be normal..still don't know about the heating up though.

Isn't it normal for the psp to make occasional whirling noises as the UMD spins?

sounds super normal to me. It's a bit weird if you're new to PSP, but it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I know that UMD noise is normal, but the Memory Stick should not be overheating, unless you're playing online, in which case it would be completely normal. At least, on the PSP 1000 it would be. I'm not sure where the WiFi board is placed on the slim and lite models.

I guess I'm talking about different noises. I've experienced dead drives and I barely notice the disc loading with my PSP. The dead noise is usually a bunch of clicks in between the disc spinning.
