no you need a tv that supports progressive scan to use the component cables.
it's not just the resolution that's different, the picture signal is broken up into 3 different color channels .... audio is still the same. so you need an edtv or hdtv to decode the signal, look here if you want a better understanding of the different cable types.
Can't there be some kind of converter? I'm not getting an HDTV anytime soon...RelysWhy not just use the non-component cables, then?
why no just get the standard AV cable you wont be able to play games but you'll be able to view movies on your TV.
also if you not geting a hdtv you can get a vga conponent converter and hook it to your PC, they are pricey but not as much as a hdtv.
B-bad
That's, that's what I'll have to get! I wonder how much it would cost to build one...
your TV need to have component output. And only HDTV has component output.joeychewComponent input, not output; and that is absolutely not true. I used to have a Sony XBR standard def TV that had component inputs.
I know we're not allowed to talk about this kind of stuff here. (I just found this out.) But let's just say there's a way to get psp slims to run games FULL SCREEN (No black boarders) with Composite cables... (That's right, no hd tv)!
I think this is rather dumb, that Sony isn't putting this in an official update, if it's posible. (Which, well, it is)!
Why are you guys so against such things if it solves some big problems for people?
