PSP Slim Case Recommendations?

Just picked up a silver PSP slim daxter bundle.

Anyone have recommendations of a good case for it?

I have heard that you could insert a slim piece of Packing foam underneath the slim and it would fit the old case, Does anyone know if this is true? Could someone check this out?

Also I have heard different opinions on the Hard cases vs the soft cases. Some say Hard cases crack easy others that being hard they protect better then Soft. I'd like to hear Owners Opinions.

I use the Aero case with this one for trips where I need to take more stuff. The Aero case by itself is nice and with this larger one I can take everything I need or just the essentials. The aero case fits nicely inside the deluxe case.

I had a regular PSP with that case, i changed my psp for a slim and i still use that case.

The psp is a bit smaller, and moves a bit in it, but not much. If you stuff a cleaning cloth with it, it's fine.

it works but it fits loose not very good itneeds to be tighter hopefully will get a good case soon

I use this case it hold the PSP (original or Slim) 8 umd's, spare battery, memory sticks, headphones. it also comes in different colors but this is the one I have.

Also got a playgear pocket but it really doesn't fit the slim well, some things have been moved around (wifi switch, headset port), also the slim moves around in there. it's a great case for the original hope they make a version for the slim.

i am using a crystal case from nuri tech for my psp slim. i would probably have to say that it's the best case for psp slim currently available. it's a little pricey at twenty two dollars but i love it, you can fully access all ports, controls, and change umd without removal of the case. check out their website: www.nuritech.us.

I just bought the Daxter bundle myself, not too long ago. Actually I came across this post when I was looking for my own case for my PSP Slim. So now I'm back and hoping I'm not too late. Here is what I got and what I thought of it as per my review.

I ordered the Sony PSP Slim - System Skin Case - Crystal from Joytron on Amazon. The item came on time and properly packaged. I opened the package and inside was a black box/case which held the system skin case (slim) in it. The case itself consisting of two pieces only was wrapped in a type of cling wrap. After opening everything it seemed that the case itself was very delicate and putting it on was very simple (it has instructions inside the package as well).

After putting the case on my PSP Slim I found that the case itself was actually very sturdy. After holding the system with the new case on it I felt that the PSP actually had gained a little structure to it. The system felt better almost. In my hands I felt like the PSP was weighted a little better and not about to break in half in my hands. The case is super light and has a super slim profile, don't get me wrong, but somehow it justs amplifies the way you would want the PSP to feel in your hands. It fits better that is. Similar to grips on any piece of equipment, the equipment feels and seems to work better.

The case seems to hold up very well. I've had it for over half a month now and it is very scratch resistant. My PSP Slim shines beautifully through the crystal case. All of the ports on the case are available and not obstructed in any way. A great feature considering other cases won't let you open the UMD door after you put their cases on which is dumb and a hassle. To be clear, you can open the UMD door at any time with the case on. All speakers are unobstructed as well. And I must say that I was quite amazed at how close the case came to the extent of the joystick on the PSP, a very close call but it gives just enough clearance for it to be rotated as far as possible in any direction. (Obviously necessary, but the precision was what amazed me personally.)

Anyways, the bottom line is if you want an everyday case for your PSP, this one is definitely a winner.

Oh, on a side note, this case does not protect the screen. It will also not protect against falls or other system shock types of accidents. It is a case that is mostly for preserving the aesthetic quality of your PSP Slim. It will help with minor mishaps but that's it as anything more is not it's purpose.

I had the equivalent designed case for both my DS and DS Lite and they were awesome. Probably going to get one for my PSP pretty soon.

There isn't much choice at the moment for PSP Slim owners looking for a sturdy case; most of the accessories built for the older PSP just do not fit well with the slightly tinier Slim, and a lot of the slim cases leave much aesthetics and protection to be desried. Given the scarce market, I was happy to give Nuri's "crystal system case" a shot.

First thing I thought when I opened the cardboard shipping box was the slick packaging, which, along with the handwritten note thanking me for buying a Nuri product, provided great customer service from the get-go. Inside the black box lay an instruction booklet and a four pieces of plastic: the large front cover, and three separate pieces for the rear (plus a limited-time little plastic stand). The middle piece snaps onto the Slim's new foldout UMD tray, and the front cover snaps with the left and right rear covers to completely enclose your PSP.

Nuri did a good job making the case conform to the curves of the PSP; the case is undoubtedly slim, and the clear plastic allows your underlying PSP designs peer though. The plastic itself is hard, but not meant to withhold tremendous amounts of force. All of the PSP's numerous ports and buttons are available, a nice feature that prevents you from wearing out the small plastic snap joints. It makes for a handsome frame around the well-designed PSP.

The downsides? The case does not come with any form of screen protection (but Nuri does sell PSP screen pretectors, separately), and $20 places this case on the high end of protective casings on the market. For the PSP owner willing to spend the money to keep their machine pristine yet attractive, this is the perfect case to get.

I just got this case two weeks ago, and I agree with everything said here. They sell on ebay too (link here) for $19.99 w/free shipping, and the case is totally worth it. I highly recommend it...I'll never buy another case again.

hard case made specifically for the PSP-2000 (slim). also carries some UMDs..... probably your best bet.

This is the type of case i have. $20 at target, works pretty good. I have the slim, so it does not fit very tight, BUT i folded a movie ticket and put it at the bottom, Fits nice and tight now. the only problem is the headphone jack must have been relocated. But i rarely use headphones, so not a big deal.

when you open the case it has a spot for 2 stacks of 2 umd discs on the top and a plastic screen protector that folds over to hold the psp in place. I like the hard case better than soft cases personally. i might see if my psp fits in the case for my atari lynx. that would be sweet. :-)

I bought two different cases off of eBay and one from Target, and none were very good.

One is a metal case that looked good but really sucked in practice. One of the biggest problems was that it wouldn't stay shut. the clasp was just a lip pressing against a small nub. It popped open at the slightest touch no matter how hard I tried to bend it to be tighter. It also didn't protect the cover and was in general just crap.

The second case claimed to mimic the Logiteck Playgear Pocket. It didn't. It wasn't double hinged so it wouldn't open up to act as a stand. The interior black rubber was thin and very hard, unlike the Logitech, and put a few wear marks on the psp face. The hinge also had two small pins that held it together and they kept sliding out. I finally lost one and now the case is useless. It was the best option until Logitech comes out with one.

The third I bought from Target after the second broke. Utter garbage. Target should be ashamed for selling such junk. I couldn't find a link on their site but it was called a bumper guard. Basically a crap plastic edge with a hard plastic face plate cover that attaches (if you can make it work - I couldn't) using plastic screws. Ughh.

I'm still searching for a good case. I might have to settle for one of those enormous travel cases until a true game case arrives.

But be real careful with the eBay and Amazon cases. They can look like something and promise plenty but I found cheap, thin, brittle plastic with hard scratching rubber and poor at best protection.
