So I was thinking about getting a used one of these for a while now and because they're pretty cheap. I was just wondering if they're really as bad as people say they are because it seems like the only argument people have against them is that the go is download only which doesnt bother me really and if that really is the only thing I see no reason to not to get one. So I was basicly wondering what you guys think about the go(if you've had one) or if I should just go with an older version of the PSP.

I find them to be more uncomfortable to use then other PSPs, but that's my only complaint.

I didn't like it. It's too small and only downloaded games, no umd.

But that's my opinion...

I would try 1 out, the only way to know for sure. When I did I didn't like the analog placement or how far away the shoulder buttons felt.

Well, since it's used, I expect it to be really cheap, then go for it. If there's one of the thousand series that is used though and is cheaper, that's a MUCH better choice. The PSPGo was just Sony's attempt at revitalizating the system, all the titles that came with it can be played on any other PSP model, so there's nothing special about it, except for the lack of UMDs.

Mm. Probably just going to get a 3k now, was lookin around the PS Store earlier at the PSP games and didn't see KH: Birth by Sleep on there. Looked up why and Square-Enix said they had no plans to release a digital copy. Sooo yeah. I need my Kingdom Hearts. So 3k it is(probably) :D

^^^ this

I personlly own one and yes I believe it boo boo that games can be more expensive on the PSN but then again just keep an eye open. I also plan on getting a Vita so everything will be moved over to that device from my current psp so I dont have to carry both around.

The 3K may have superior screens, it sometimes shows these lines on the screen called, "scan lines." You should decide on which PSP to get while knowing the drawbacks.

It's not all that bad... But it took away physical games and cost more. Not a great deal imo.

The one nice thing about the Go is that it's a bit smaller. The whole thing is about the size of a regular PSP's screen or about the size of an iPhone or other larger smart phone. I chose to go w/ a PSP 3000 and I'm happy with it but the thing just doesn't fit in pocket so I gotta bring a bag or something if I want to take it w/ me.

I don't think there is anything wrong with them as such and if you are happy to pay rip-off PSN prices for games and not have the full back catalog available then nothing wrong with them at all.

The smaller form factor and placement of the Analog nub right next to the D-pad make the PSP Go uncorfortable.

I was about to say the same thing, there's no UMD drive for it and you would be paying full price on games from the PSN store. Unlike retail stores you get the games on UMD half the price you would pay on the store

I think everyone failed to mention that at this point, if you ever plan on moving on to the Playstation Vita, you're probably just as well of or more than having a 3000. You probably should be buying all your games digitally, because even if it is a rip-off, at least you'll get to keep those games. If you'd rather save your money short-term and/or play games that weren't released digitally, then the 3000 is still a fine choice. My point is, now that we know the Vita isn't compatible with UMDs, we should be focusing on Digital PSP games, not bargain bin UMDs, as much as I love them. :)

sony makes really dumb decisions... like they could have made a UMD converter so u can put the umds on the pspGO but they didnt because there scared of the games being pirated.. wtf?? i mean its already pirated no matter what you do people are going to hack your systems and steal your games. also i love how sony releases the damn thing and 2 years after that there is a new portable system!!

I have one and still use it. It's comfortable for me, I don't have to carry a big case with my UMD's in tow, and it can actually fit in my pocket. Besides now that I'm going to get the Vita I get to keep all the games I still bought on the PSN Store. Also, I have absolutely NO idea what everyone is talking about the PSN store being a rip-off. They actually LOWER prices on games after a while. For example, Mana Khemia Student Alliance. I had my eye on the game but never bought it. One day I checked the PSN store and it dropped from $39.99 to $9.99. And the only games that cost full price would be major first party games. And with that you don't have to pay tax either, unlike buying a UMD at a store. UMDs are slowly going extinct. Buying a PSP go would really be the best choice, it's not like your going to be able to keep the games you bought on a PS-3000 once something better then the Vita comes out and you have to upgrade, and it also won't take UMDs.

It's not just Sony's call, it has to do with how games are licensed. You can't just transfer a game unless you buy a digital and hard copy license simultaneously, and Sony didn't do that, neither did any other companies. Honestly, I don't see why developers aren't selling UMDs with a digital download code for the game. It's a novel concept, and it's worked on the PC for a few years. Piracy is a lot worse when anyone could just pop in a friend's game and copy it to their system. That essentially removes DRM from any game, and it would be open season for pirates. At least the way it is now with the PSP, you have to go to the trouble to track down and download illegal games. I think a lot of people regret not buying a PSP Go when they had the chance. It's a bit of a dirty move on Sony's part, and it would have been nice to know the next portable console won't have UMD support a little bit in advance. But it is what it is, and I think that the Go looks like a better choice than it looked before.

I have the Go and I got it because it got pretty annoying carrying the big PSP around along with the games. I love the size and it even has some useful features that the regular PSPs don't have. I also didn't want to have to keep buying memory cards and then switch them constantly to play different games. Ultimately I knew UMDs had to be done away with eventually so another big reason why I got the go and I'm glad i did.

This. A normal PSP just isn't portable or that comfortable bringing out to public (for me at least). The Go is a lot smaller, fits perfectly in any of my pockets, and is just a much sleeker device. I love the internal storage, and how beautiful the screen is.

Problem is that Sony messed up big time on the pricing. That gave everyone a bad taste in their mouths and many gamers refused to give this a chance. If you can pick this up for under $100 (like I did) its a great deal.

It matters how much you play your PSP outside your house.
