"The new PSP is 20 percent thinner and 33 percent lighter than the original. Internal system memory has increased from 32MB to 64MB, which helps speed up game load times considerably. The new system also has a new video-output port that can you can use to connect the PSP to a TV if you have the appropriate AV cable."

There are also other differences.

The two aren't much different, and I like having the liberty to mess around with my 1001.

Aesthetically, the Slim is lighter but feels cheaper. The system memory for loading time is kind of moot if you can bump up the processor to hit the 333mhz max (mine does fine at 300mhz). TV out is kind of a hit and a miss, because it locks games in at the resolution they come with and doesn't upscale them, and apparently you need an HDTV with progressive scan to even get it to work.

slim, but really other than the 32 to 64 internal mem. the other function are kinda meh. the video output is nice... but it contradicts the purpose of a handheld. basically i can play my consoles i don't need a stationary psp. (I know you can watch movies, view pics, listen to music, and all that stuff...but I don't really see it necessary.

i prefer my old PSP because i have big hands and they get cramped up when playing. so if you could live with a little longer loading times and less theme colours and tv output then go with the old one.

load time varies by game. I didnt notice a difference in older games only in newer ones that seem to take advantage of the slim's features

I've never touched the original PSP, so I can't really compare the two. However, I can say confidently that the PSP Slim is very slick and fully recommended!

The slim is awesome. It feels a bit cheap though...well i guess light things do feel cheap because you'll really notice the difference in weight. Way faster loading times in games although some of the newer games are taking advantage of the the slim's features. Just the get the slim, like the Daxter Bundle or something. Game, 1GB mem stick, UMD Movie (Family Guy) and the Slim of course for around 200US....

Yea, but why would you ever want to use it. If you have a computer running, then you have an outlet...so why not just use the outlet? The PSP will take 2x longer to charge through USB than an outlet.

Because sometimes the other end of my charger goes missing for some other purpose. I never use the USB cable for any other purpose. Besides, if you are charging the thing, you really aren't thinking about using it real soon.

if i have my laptop at work, or on a plane/train/bus, i can charge my PSP while working on mylaptop. It's easy when both are running anyways.

I think the only thing good about the Slim is that it does not get as many finger prints on the Front... I've only seen the Silver or White one (Not sure which one it was)...The Black Phat one gets a LOT of Finger Prints on the Front... It can get really annoying...

I've got the white vader psp and i love it. I have seen both and the slim kills. loading, the jump from 32 to 64 is a big jump, and lots of buttons of been changed liek the WLAN and you can just open the cover to put the game in instead of the dumb button. Its really worth the extra money espacially if you get the star wars or daxter pack.

Thanxs for the help! I'm not totally sure, I was gonna get one off of ebay. Im only 15 so dont have a job or anything. I used to have one when they first came out, but now they got good games and stuff. I know what you ment about the finger prints, I used to hate that. But I really, really want crisis core and I dont think I would be able to get system and game. I thought of Patapaloon or whatever, because it is only $20 and got a good review on it.:?

the slim looks fragile, feels fragile, the fingerprint thing is negligible, not all games load that much faster, i'd say if u dont have a psp then get the slim, but upgrading to a slim isn't really worth all that much

whilei'd debate the fragileness, i love mine. this is really good advice. if you have a PSP, it's probably not worth buying a new slim. but if you don't, then the slim is the natural choice.
