I've been wanting to get a new nba game (NBA 2K12) and realizing a new game comes out yearly should I buy it or wait for 2K13? That brings me to another point being is it really worth it to update your sports games yearly by purchasing the new one? Thanks for any inputs.

If you play online then you will need to buy the yearly roster updates[game]. If you just want to play solo, then you should be good. The servers don't last that long after the next year's release because they want you to buy their next game.

I am still playing MLB The Show '09. It is fine for me as I rarely play online anyways.

The problem I have with sports games is that the roster changes every year. It is part of the reason why I don't purchase sport games. For some reason, I can't play a game with outdated rosters unless it is a soccer game because I really don't have interest in any soccer teams.

Sports games usually add a few new minor features and an updated roster each year. Some of them work better than others though, so maybe read reviews on Amazon before you get it... If you're not getting the game for online, any of the NBA 2K games of the last few years will be fine I think.

I think labeling sports games as "roster updates" is unfair. Sure, they don't contain revolutionary changes in every iteration, but they usually aren't exact replicas of last year's version either. If you're looking at the NBA 2K series, I recommend NBA 2K12 for the improved My Player Mode and the expanded Legends challenges. I admit, the gameplay from 2K11 to 2K12 wasn't nearly as drastic of change from 2K10 to 2K11, but it is cleaned up.

I buy PES every year... yeah, i know... sometimes it has small difference in way of playing, better grahics, updated teams and so on.. not much changes, the only reason i buy it every year is because i love it and i have been playing it forever...

is up to you, i guess if you are a big fan you will get it every year, make no difference whatsoever...

i also buy it every year becausei cant stand playing with old teams and players not being updated...

but thats me

Definitely agreed man, they've loosened up the defensive AI so now it's all on you to save the team... still miles better than FIFA tho (jk, please don't hurt me). :P

No it's not worth it. I used to buy the new one every year. Now I wait until the new one comes out and then I buy the old one dirt cheap. You will save a ton of money! This is the way to go.

Actually thats true... every sport game gets worthless (for shops) as soon as a new one comes out...

so is a really good deal if you dont mind getting the newest one... if you buy a PES, FIFA or some of those coming out every year... you will save a lottttttttttt of money if you buy the old one...

i have tried to change fifa 2010 when 2011 was out, the guy in the shop told me ... "just keep it"....
