Well thats sort of the nuts and bolts of it but really **SPOILER WARNING** On Shadow Moses Ocelot gets his right had cut off by Grey Fox, later during that mission Liquid Snake dies from the Foxdie virus, Ocelot takes Liquids right hand from his corpse and when he did that Liquid Snakes spirit took over his body.

This is true, but it doesn't end there. Turns out Liquid Snake's spirit didn't actually take over Ocelot. Ocelot had himself drugged, had nanomachines implanted, had crazy personality therapy, and all this other stuff to actually convince himself that he WAS Liquid Snake. That way he could fool the A.I. that would only respond to someone with the same genetic make up of Big Boss or whatever. He had to be Liquid in everyway possible to get access to those systems through his neuro patterns that were used as passwords. Its kinda crazy, but it all boils down to this: Its Ocelot's body, but he thinks he's Liquid now. Crazy thing is.... Liquid does actually seem to live on in him.
