Hi,

I am wondering whether some of you PS3 owners can help me - now I know the PS3 can output the new advanced audio codecs (Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio) through HDMI when playing a Blyray movie (if the movie disc has those encoded on it), but what I don't know is whether the games themselves use these new audio formats.

I haven't got a PS3 (yet) and I was hoping if some of you can check the back of the game boxes (I am particularly interested in Heavenly Sword, COD 4 and Assassin's Creed) and see if they support those formats or just the standard Dolby/DTS 5.1. Thanks in advance

I compared Happy Feet (blu ray movie) and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The movie does support TruHD but the games just plays in Standard Dolby and Fifa 08 plays in 5.1 DTS... but the sound is still pretty awesome in the games.

This might not be helpful...but i have a standard dolby digital 5.1 system. Each time I play COD4 it automatically goes to dolby. Also in the Audio setup for PS3 they have a bunch of formats listed i have never payed attn to which ones but I believe DTS is also there. I`ll check the box of my games when I get home and write in again.

I would look out for MGS4 having that lossless audio. They might run out of run because that stuff is uncompressed and would take up a lot of run, yes even on Blue-Ray
