Question about using an external hard drive with my ps3?

I wanna know what i would need to do in order to get my seagate external hard drive to work with my ps3...

because when i plug it in it does not recognize it....and i heard that you have to format it in some way to get it to work

and also is the ps3 pickey with certain brand of harddrives.....

but yeah thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out...

You have to format it as FAT32.

Type "compmgmt.msc /s" in Run without the quotes. Find the drive by going to the Data Management tab, delete the partitian then remake it as 32000 MB.

Type "compmgmt.msc /s" in Run without the quotes. Find the drive by going to the Data Management tab, delete the partitian then remake it as 32000 MB.

yeah i just read up about FAT32 and how i need to use swiss knife to format the entire drive

but can i put game installs on the external hard drive?

I used Swiffarmy Knife from www.downloads.com to format my Seagate external to 160gb.

dang...that was the main reason i got the external hard drive.....
