Ok guys, i'm a noob when it comes to this stuff so hopefully you guys will enlighten me on this.

My brother just bought himself a PS3 and both his PS3 and mine are connected to the same modem/router. I've noticed that there are some games that support LAN play, The Darkness is an example, and i was wondering how does this work since i haven't had the chance to try it for myself. Basically i want to know if he will be able to play with me a game that supports this feature when we only have one copy of the game. Or do we have to have two copies of the game, one for each PS3?

Thanks for your help.

yes need 2 tvs, 2 ps3 or 1 xbox and 1 ps3 since games is multiplatform anyways, 2 copies of the game, a router, internet service is not required beyond the router but if its hooked upto cable/dsl modem then thats cool too. LAN means offline play basically.

Are you sure about that? I've never tried LAN with PS3, but since most multiplat games don't have cross play online, I doubt they'd have it on LAN..

To the OP; you need two copies of the game. Though if I remember correctly, in Warhawk you'll only need one copy of the game, and you'll be able to share it with several other PS3s through LAN.

I found this on a different board:

"You're right Element crisis. We tried Formula one CE in Lan mode with three TV's, three ps3, three games and a router. We used a simple D-link router (DI-524 i think) and plug the cables in 3 of the four slots (never use the Wlan slot ! J) of the router and that's it. Oh yes, and don't forget that all three ps3 may have internet connection with ethernet enable (in the sys. config. menu)"

"you dont need to be on the INTERNET to play PS3 Resistance on the LAN. just go into multiplayer and host a game, and others will be able to join. Just get a few buddies together with some ps3s and get them on your LAN network and you'll be fine. remember every ps3 needs its own individual unique ip address, perhaps if you have a router it will get all this info automatically, if not you have to go the manual route"

More info on said board here

Good luck - and tell us how it goes - I would like to try this myself
