My first question is if anyone traded in their old psp to update to a new slim. If so, about how much did you get credit wise for the trade. My Second question is if the slim is made of all plastic, my friend says that it is not nearly as sturdy and the older one. Please reply.

I have the slim and I really like it, I never had the original psp so I can't help you with thetrade in question, but I did play it a few times and I like the slim a lot better...it's noticably lighter very light, the buttons have a better feel to them, the d pad buttons stick out further, and I LOVE the ice silver metalic finish looks way better imo than the two yr. old black. The only reason I could see someone saying it's not as sturdy as the original is the fact that the battery cover seems to move arounda tiny bit when your fingers on holding the psp in your hand but nothing serious to me and it wouldn't stop me from buying it....oh and the extra memory with UMD cache feature really helped out loading times...the two games I have, have hardly any loading at all!!

It feels like cheaper plastic, but how light it is makes up for the fragilness. I just would not drop it any.

It feels lighter because of changes made to the inside of the unit. mainly the umd door and spring loader, also the design is more streamed everything is more tightly packed together, the unused (officially) ir port was removed. speakers were moved, same are say the battery cover moves mine doesn't. People think it feels weak because of the lower weight but it's just as strong as before.

as for trading in the old system gs/eb games only gives around $60 now.

My battery cover moves very slightly. i don't know if it's enough to take it back though. Another thing though and i wonder if anyone else has this or has noticed it is the UMD door on mine is slightly raised right on the corner where it says UMD on it. On some games the way i hold the PSP I don;t notice it but when i'm playing Burnout legends for instane my left thumb sort of knocks into that tiny rise and I'll notice it. It's very slight to where i wonder if i take it back they'll whine that it isn't anything but it is noticeable so i may do that. If you look at the plastic of the door itself you can see where it's almost molded to create that tiny little rise so it doesn't seem to be the hinges that are causing it. Anyone else have this?

Actually my slim'sUMD door has this as well, i just checked...butI didn't even notice it b4 you mentioned it so I'm guessing they all have this.... I really doubt a store would let you return it for something like this b/c it doesn't bother me any while I'm playing...but it would look better if it was line up perfectly.

Question to those that already own the slim, I'm quite clumsy and there's a good chance that I'll drop my slim PSP (once I buy it) is it strong enough? Meaning will the UMD door break easily?

If you drop it you'll crack the lcd screen before you break the UMD door so get a hard fitted case to help protect it...the door doesn't look like it'll break while it's closed, it's when you have it open loading a game is when it looks weak...but I'm honestly not worried about mine breaking at all.

dude if i were you i would not trade in your old one, unless u can buy like a titanium cover for it. I just bought the psp slim like 4 days ago, and last night at work i dropped (it was only a 2 foot drop) onto the floor and now the screen is all F*ckedup....so from my 4 day experience id say keep your old one and see if u can just get the hardware upgrades for it.
