Actually two quick questions. I know the PS3 does not come with hdmi cable out of the box, but does it come with the standard cable for hd look like the 360 premium does?

Other quick question is do you need hdmi to watch blu ray movies in all its glory or do they still perform hi def just on 720 or 1080p.

New at all this learning stuff thats all. Thanks

1). It comes with component cables, and you wont be playing in HD even if you have a HDTV.

2). I guess so because if your component cables cant get you to play in HD you wont be able to watch in HD nor Listen in HD. But it will be probably more clear than DVD quality.

the ps3 does not come with any kind of hd cables, you have to go out and buy them, it comes with composite cables which are for standard definition tv.

I think arabi is confused.... The PS3 only comes with COMPOSITE (non-HD, yellow(video), white and red (audio)).... You either need to buy component or HDMI cables or use your old PS2 component cables to get an HD picture.... You can get HDMI cables for under 20 bucks at monoprice.com. Also even on a non HD TV, component cables make a big difference in picture quality so I recommend gettting them if you dont have an HDTV, that way when you do get one youre good to go for hd.

arent component cables the yellow white and red ? or are they called composite ? anyway i meant component cables as in yellow white and red cables that come with the ps3. And the HDMI cables are the ones that get you the HD image

No man Component cables are HD cables and are sold seperately,Composite cables come with the system and don't display HD quality video.

Yeah its alittle disappointing that it only comes with composite but you can easily use component or hdmi from any shop which sell them for under $10 HDMI can be bought for $20 on ebay though.

Nope you are still confused.

Digital HD = Hdmi = carries HD audio and video through one plug.

Analog HD = Component cables = red, blue, green rca plugs for video.

Standard def = Composite = yellow rca plug for video.

The ps3 comes with composite only.

I got my HDMI cable from Gamecrazy.  It costed me about 25 bucks. They work great so you can check there or  you can also get it here for 30 bucks from target.

Don't let anyone fool you, you don't need a very expensive cable, they are all pretty much made exactly the same, just how they market it to you.

lol yea i get it, but i mean component and HDMI are the same they still give u HD. i just said it in a wrong way HDMI has only one plug at each side and component have many colour and both give HD. Composite is the tricolor thing yello and are SD Digital HD = Hdmi = carries HD audio and video through one plug.

PS3 came with "composite" NOT "component" plugs, two different things!

At WalMart they do have cheaper HDMI, some of them at only $14, but the cord might be too short.... I got mine MADCATZ for $34 works.

I'll admit that the inclusion of only composite video cables seems kind of shabby. But what everyone seems to miss is that the video output on the PS3 is also backward compatible. Meaning that if you had component cables for your PS2, you can use the same cables on your PS3. That's what I did. It also made the hookup of the PS3 alot easier since I didn't have to pull out the TV. I just unplugged the PS2 and plugged in the PS3
