Hey,

So my little cousin was playing my ps3 with the controller pluged in and he yanked too hard and the ps3 fell about six feet from the top of the tv to the floor. However, it still worked and everything was ok. But i went to play the next day and a screen came up that said "THE DISK DRIVE WIL BE REBUILT" So i hit ok. A progress bar comes up for two seconds, but then i hear a beep and the ps3 restarts and does the same thing over again. The only thing i can think of is that the shock might have busted my hard drive, but i am hesitant to go drop a bunch of cash on a hard drive that i am not sure will fix the problem. Anyone have any Ideas? Thanks

My PS3 did the hard drive rebuilding thing, but it wasnt after any type of damage to the console. Mine only rebuilt itself once. It basically means that a file on your ps3 like a game save was corrupted, and your hard drive is kind of performing a sweep of itself. Its nothing bad, but if yours rebuilt itself one time after another after a big fall like that, you could have cause to worry.

it just seems like the PS3 can't read the hard disk, so it just resets itself and repeats the process. the PS3 itself seems to be functioning fine aside from a banged up corner. And i was playing on it fine after the fall but before it started doing all of this crap.

Another thing i just thought of is that there was a huge storm the other night and my lights kept flickering. I wonder if that caused the problem

It happened to me once. Something goes wrong and it "cleans up" your HDD and fixes it. All the data and stuff is still intact though :).
