Not sure if this is old news or not but it seems the case against Sony for removing the other OS feature was lost.

Not surprising. There is nothing illegal about removing a feature that could be used to help steal games.
That's just one guy in Austrailia. Not that the outcome will be any different but there are several more pending.
That sucks. Its ridiculous to say that such things should be removed that help pirate games. Because there was no proof. Some guy said he could do it. But no proof. Now we have jail breaks coming out every day. Alot of good that did. I hope it teaches the greedy sobs a lesson. If your gonna give people something then take it away you better frigging make up for it. I wanted to put linux on my ps3 for a while and as soon as I got to do it. THey take it away! Imagine if MS made it so you couldnt use linux on your PC. That would surely make alot of people...angry....wait this is ps3 thread....most people here probably never used linux. Darn it.KLONE360
So what are you suggesting? Wait until a million people pirate your games and THEN start trying to prevent it? Imagine that from Sony's perspective...

It would be the PSP all over again for Sony

Why do you think Sony asked for a hold on any sales of the product. Really Sony is trying to protect the consumer by going this route instead of allowing it's customers spending the unreal price for something that will be useless in no time. You think that firmware updates can stop this? Pandora's box just got cracked wide open. They can do nothing. Everything they will do will fail.
So you expect them to just go "Oh darn. I guess the pirates win. I don't even care anymore. Pirate away! Who cares about money anymore!?" :| You sound a bit too happy that pirating games on the PS3 might be possible someday...

Atleast somone see's where Sony got this problem from. This is the MAIN reason why the PSP doesn't sell many games. All the 'homebrew' and dl'ing torrents and saved files online to your psp. The psp is a great system...i have one....But i don't pirate. If you want to use the different OS that sony has banned...and is prolly going to ban....buy a computer. What's the advantage to having a diff OS on your ps3 anyways? If it werent for the pirates you could be still running linux. Though really you could also get a sub $300 computer and run linux and alot more as well to be fair.KurushioTake away piracy.....what other arguments do you have? This statement right here kinda sums everything up

What Im saying is, Firmware isnt going to do this. Not alone at least. Just look at every company that tries this. It never works. There are other ways of limiting piracy. New firmware is just a waste of money. Its like stopping a cannon ball with a wooden shield. I can almost guarantee that somebody knows another whole in the firmware somewhere. There was a hole in the fort and the hackers got in. Now they know more then sony ever wanted them to know.
Oh and making something jailbreaked dousnt even mean for pirating. Its to run third party software that isnt licensed for the device alot of times. Such as Iphone and Ipad with flash. So where you got that idea is beyond me.
And also, sony removing other OS just shows greed. Sony has gotten like MS, greedy. They made a decision with only there motives in the sights. Heck they didnt even make up for removing the functionality. Next they will probably remove PS or PS2 compat if they so as hear a rumor about PS2 games used to break the ps3. May I repeat it. There is no proof that other OS could be used to pirate software. In theory maybe. In practice, no none successes.
It seems either you people are the most devoted fans of sony or something. The PSP has made millions. Money has been made in huge amounts off of it even with piracy in high amounts. So how is piracy killing anything is making millions not enough?
Also you call me a pirate. Or at least ensued it. I say to you, your just mad and have no valid arguments in all likely hood.
After making the move to PC. I realized consoles, you basically bow to the creator. I am not one to bow.
